Once there was a puppy called Sparky.

He lived in the countryside.

He had brown fur and blue eyes.

He lived across the road from a cat.

The cat's name was Rocky.

He had grey fur and brown eyes.

The one thing that was wrong was that they never met each 

other. Their owners, Eric and Tara never wanted them to.

They always looked at each other and frowned.

Eric and Tara never knew what was wrong!

They always brought them in because they didn't want them 

to chase after each other.

When Eric was going out with Sparky, Rocky always used to 

chase after the pick-up truck, but once they got to the 

motorway he walked back home.

And when Rocky went out, Sparky used to chase after them 

till they got to the motorway.

You see they wanted to become friends, but they couldn't.

One day Eric saw Sparky run after Rocky right in the middle of the 

road.

He ran after Sparky like a cheetah!

He ran for hours and hours trying to catch him, he just couldn't.

Finally he caught him just as they reached the town.

He said "bad Sparky" and decided to put a collar on him in case he 

ran away again.

So the next day he went down to town to go to the library.

He looked at one of the books to see how to make a collar for a 

dog.

Finally he found the right book.

He read the book and went to get Sparky out of the car.

He bruoght him in to the library.

Sparky ducked down under the table and lay down, but Eric 

didn't want him to.

Every tme he called him up he just shook his head and lay down 

lower.

Finally Eric got really mad and pulled him up.

Sparky whined like mad, but luckily the librarian didn't hear him.

Sparky stayed up but he didn't look at the computer.

But Eric told him it was important, so Sparky looked up.

When he saw the label for his collar he barked and ran out of the 

library!

Eric ran after him (again!) like a cheetah!

Suddenly Eric heard the screech of a car, and there was Sparky, 

sitting in the middle of the road, with the car only an inch away 

from him, panting. 

Eric ran over to Sparky and hugged him so hard his eyes nearly 

popped out!

Eric apologised to the driver still holding Sparky in his hands, and 

the driver said it's your dogs fault!

Eric gasped, You rude thing!, by all the rude people I heard you 

by far, are the worst!

And then Tara ran up to Eric, with her cat, Rocky and said to Eric 

"that was my uncle you are speaking to!". Oh my god!' said Eric I 

had no idea! Why didn't you tell me before!

Because, said Tara, he lives in the town and we live in the 

countryside, coincidence.

Well, why don't you ask him if he'd like to visit us in the 

countryside, Eric asked her.

That's a great idea, she said. We can have a great day. We 

might even have a picnic!

And so, even though they had got off to a bad start after 

Sparky ran out into the road, it was all arranged.

They were all going on a picnic the following Saturday.

With sandwiches, apples, fruit salads and lots more.

I'm sorry about what happened.

I'm sorry to.

Thiis picnic will totally make up our friendship!

What do you mean? said Tara our friendship never broke!

We'll always be friends, best friends, BFF's.
