Once upon a time there was a pizza slice named Charlie. He had six other siblings that he was always with. He was made in a place called Chuck E Cheese and this place was filled with giant kids that were really hungry.
One day at Chuck E Cheese, during a party a big hungry kid came up to Charlie. Charlie wasn't ready because no other kids came to the pizza, just this one kid. Charlie wanted to be friends with him but the kid immideatley picked him up and took a bite out of him.

The first step Charlie took was through the Mouth.
The mouth is a oval shaped whole located right under the nose. The two main functions of the mouth are eating and speaking. The parts of the mouth are the lips, teeth, tonsils, tounge, uvula , gums, and salivary glands.
As the kid eats Charlie he continuously bites the pizza into smaller pieces to make the food easier to swallow. This is an example of mechanical digestion.

The next step Charlie takes through his journey is the esophagus.

The esophagus is a long tubed organ of the digestive system which connects the pharynx to the stomach. The pharynx is a passageway for food and air and is located inside the neck.
The esophagus is the organ that food travels through to reach the stomach for further digestion.

The next step Charlie takes is through the stomach.
The stomach is a oval J-shaped organ located in the upper part of the abdomen. The stomach holds the food and mixes it with acid and enzymes that continue to break down foods into a liquid or paste. In the stomach protein is broken down into amino acids with pepsin .

Then after Charlie leaves the stomach he enters the small intestine.
The small intestine is a tube-like organ that connects the stomach and the large intestine. It is about 20 feet long and folds a lot of times to fit inside the abdomen. The main functions of the small intestine is to break down food, absorb nutrients needed for the body, and to get rid of any uneccesary components.

After the juices and acid have mixed around in the stomach, and the small intestine absorbs all of the nutrients, its pumped into the blood then goes to the liver.
The liver is the organ that sits right under the rib cage under the right side of the abdomen. The liver then processes the blood and breaks down fats, and creates the nutrients.
