The Tortoise and the HareThe Great Space Race
On the far away planet of Hergaferga hare boasted to the entire planet of his victory in The
International Space Race. As he boasted in his
triumphant manner he made many enemies in the
process including me, a young tortoise of the galaxy B-
12 who wanted to show this pompous hare that anyone
can beat him.

Who is the fastest? It is me, of course.

I had a ship to race with that I had never used. I
knew that my ship was not as fast as the hare
and his record gas-guzzling, breaker speeder. I
knew that the slow and steady pace could save
my fuel and allow me to possibly be victorious.

That very day, I challenged the hare to a
space race in front of the entire town. The
hare snickered with laughter as I issued the
challenge and agreed to a race to the planet of
Gettinterf. In my head, I felt excitement rush
over me as I had my chance to defeat the hare
at his own game.

The hare and I lined up at the starting line and
prepared to race. Silence came over the
crowd as the launch sequence began. As the
count struck one, ZOOM, the race began and
the hare took a quick lead. I took my slow and
steady ship and began to cruise along as I
passed planets one by one.

As the hare rounded Gettinterf, he noticed
that I was very far behind him. He thought
a nap was in order as he cruised to the
finish line.

As the hare approached Hergaferg once
more, he went to remove him feet from the
console when his foot hit the controls. The
ship, moving at incredible speed veered far
off course. The hair had no time to recover
and crashed into the planet, directly in
front of the finish line. The crowd gasped
as the hare had been knocked unconscious.

I saw the crash and took advantage of the
unconscious hare. I crossed the finish line
in my slow and steady pace and shouted to
the the townspeople that I had won. I had
defeated the fastest ship in all the galaxy.
