Early life

Thurgood Marshall was born on july 2, 1908 in Baltimore maryland. His father was a railroad porter and his mother was a teacher. Along with his siblings he had one brother named William Aubrey Marshall and his sister Norma.

Education

Thurgoods educational path consisted of attending colored schools in Baltimore Maryland since there were no integrated schools but even under those conditions he strived for excellence in his education. He soon after attended Howard University of law where he honed his legal skills and deepened his understanding of the law.

Career

After his graduation from Howard he began his career in law, practicing in Baltimore Maryland. He took on cases that challenged segregation and inequality which soon led to him becoming the chief legal counsel for the NAACP, where he played a role in dismantling segregation in schools through the landmark case of Brown v. Board of Education which also was the biggest moment in his history. Thurgood Marshall had a number of colleagues, one of the most notable being Charles Hamilton Houston, a brilliant legal mind and mentor who influenced his approach to civil rights law.
