This story is dedicated to Mr.Z and his 1st hour Honors Bio class, but
mostly to Mr. Z for giving us an extra credit opportunity because this

CELLCELLCELL EATER

MaiCell the plant cell slept in her
room like she did every night. She slept
well because she had everything in her life
figured out, and her dreams were always
about things that made her happy. She never
questioned what she was doing, but she knew
she was a cell and proud to be one.
OR SO SHE THOUGHT...

CELLCELLCELL EATER

MaiCell screamed when she woke up
"I look terrible!" she exclaimed
looking into the mirror across the
room. "Oh wait..." She then realized
she was screaming about the wrong
subject matter. Her dream had been the
thing that was really terrible. She
could never remember having a bad dream
in her whole life. She had a dream that
she died without actually ever doing
anything important in her life, and then
she realized she didn't have a purpose...
or not one she knew of anyways. She had to
find out why she was alive. "What's the
point of being a cell?" She wondered.

MaiCell was going to ask the older
cells what a cell's purpose was, but
she knew that they would just say she
was going through a phase that all
teenage cells go through. Instead, she
decided she was going to travel to the
capital of their world Cell City, where
she would ask Mr. ZdroCellSki, the
Cellologist, to share his all powerful
knowledge and wisdom about cells. First,
she had to get dressed though.

MaiCell left her home and started
her journey to Cell City. On her way,
she faced many obstacles and met many
new friends who helped her.

On her way across the Deadly Salt Water
Ocean, MaiCell saved Amelia CellHart whose
plane had crashed into the ocean. Amelia said
that if MaiCell hadn't came she would have
died! When MaiCell asked why, Amelia said
that her insides were shrinking due to
something Plant Cells do called plasmolysis.
She said that when plant cells are put into a
hypertonic solution (One that has more
solutes than it has water) that they start to
shrivel up because their water leaves their
body. If MaiCell had fallen into the water, it
would happen to her too! MaiCell never knew that
that could happen to a cell. "Oh Amelia! Do you
know anything else about cells?" She asked, but
Amelia shook her head. "I have always wondered what
my purpose as a cell was! If only someone could tell
me." MaiCell told Amelia that she was going to Cell
City where Mr. ZdroCellSki would teach her all there is
to know about cells and that she could come too! So
Amelia and MaiCell left.

On her way across the Deadly 100% H2O
Fresh Water Ocean, MaiCell saved Captain Cell
Sparrow whose boat had sank into the ocean.
Cell said that if MaiCell hadn't came he would
have died! When MaiCell asked why, Cell said
that his insides were going to almost explode
due to something Plant Cells do called Turgor
Pressure. She said that when plant cells are
put into a hypotonic solution (One that has
less solutes than it has water) that they start
to grow because water enters their body, but
they can't break the outside of the cell. If
MaiCell had fallen into the water, it would happen
to her too! MaiCell never knew that that could
happen to a cell. "Oh Cell! Do you know anything
else about cells?" She asked, but the captain shook
his head. "I have always wondered what my purpose as a
cell was! If only someone could tell me." MaiCell told
Cell that she was going to Cell City where Mr.
ZdroCellSki would teach her all there is to know about
cells and that he could come too! So the three of them
left.

On her way across the Snow Place, Santa
Cell saved MaiCell and her friends! Santa said
that if he hadn't seen MaiCell, all three of
them would have died! When MaiCell asked why,
Santa said that Cells can never be in
temperatures too hot, cold, or substances too
acidic, or basic; their environment has to be
just right for them. He said that they would
stop working and eventually die. That's why he
gave them his special weather technology suits.
MaiCell never knew that that could happen to a
cell. "Oh Santa! Do you know anything else about
cells?" She asked, but the jolly man shook his head.
"I have always wondered what my purpose as a cell
was! If only someone could tell me." MaiCell told him
that she was going to Cell City where Mr. ZdroCellSki
would teach her all there is to know about cells and
that he could come too! So the four of them left.
