The Holocaust was a horrible and ugly time for Jews in
Europe. It was a time when no Jew was safe in their
own country. The Holocaust was one of the most tragic
events in our world's history. It took place during World
War II. The Nazis wanted to eradicate all Jews, so they
forced them to go to concentration camps where they
were crammed into tight living quarters, underfed, and
forced to work. Most people during the Holocaust died
of disease, malnutrition, or working to death.

Anne Frank was one of the millions of Holocaust
victims. She had been living in hiding with her father,
mother, sister, and another family in the Netherlands.
They lived inside a secret annex of an old house. It was
a very hard time for the Franks. During this time Anne
kept a diary expressing her feelings. The family was
safe from harm inside their secret annex, but they were
soon betrayed. The police came and picked them up.
They were sent to various concentration camps.
Margot, Anne, and their mother died. Anne's father was
the only surviving member of the family.
Anne's diary has been translated into many languages.
Anne's story has inspired millions of people to fight for
unity and peace.

The Holocaust was indeed a horrible time for Jews. I
cannot believe that Nazis forced Jews to work and live
in such hard conditions. Take a look at the man in this
picture. He is so skinny that he dose not look real.
These people were treated like animals, malnourished,
and on the verge of death, and were still forced to
work.

Meip Geis was one of the 5 people that helped hide and
feed the Frank family. She was a close friend of the
family and never thought about what would happen to
her is she was caught hiding Jews. She is the one who
saved Anne's diary after the family was taken away.
She died on January 11, 2010.
