The world was changing. Every day, news headlines warn about climate change, plastic-choked oceans, and forests disappearing faster than ever. People scrolled past images of polluted rivers and landfills growing like mountains, but few stopped to think about the impact of their actions.
In the middle of a busy city, a group of students at a High School felt frustrated. They saw the overflowing trash bins in their schoolyard, plastic bottles left on park benches, and food wrappers clogging drains after every rainfall. Among them was Maya, a creative and determined teenager who believed that small actions could lead to big changes.

Maya is a clever fourteen-year-old girl, who has always been very
sensitive about environmental problems and has started getting informed of
different ways to help protect the planet. She goes to middle school and every day
she prefers to walk instead of using any means of transport or asking her mum to drive her there. Besides, she lives very close to the school building.
One day, as she was walking to school, she saw her friend Amy throwing an empty plastic bottle on the ground. Amy got upset and ran up to her friend, saying : ‘Amy! You just threw the plastic bottle on the ground! Why did you do that?’ Amy did not seem to understand Maya’s reaction and replied : ‘ Why? It’s just a small bottle…I didn’t think it was that important. Everybody does that!’

Maya took a deep breath, trying to keep her frustration in check. She bent down, picked up the bottle, and held it up for Amy to see. "It might seem small, but imagine if everyone thought like that," she said. "One bottle turns into hundreds, then thousands, and soon our streets, rivers, and oceans are drowning in plastic." Amy frowned, looking at the bottle in Maya’s hand.
"I never really thought about it that way," she admitted. Maya smiled, sensing an opportunity. "Come with me after school. I have an idea that might change how people see trash." Intrigued, Amy nodded, unaware she was about to join Maya on an adventure that would turn them into heroes for the planet.

At school, Amy talked to Mark about Maya’s idea.Mark didn’t like the idea. He thought this is nonsense. Then Maya came. Amy talked about Mark's ideas to Maya. Maya felt sad but she was determined to persuade Mark .
She asked him: " why do you think so?"
"What can we change for the environment? We are only three", said Mark.
"Oh, don’t think like this. A little change that we do can change the world! We can start a campaign to recycle!", said Amy.
Maya got excited. "First. let's start with our school. We can announce our work to our teachers and friends. We can prepare posters and hang them on the walls of the school and billboards!" said Maya. She believed that more of her friends will join them and save the environment.

After school, Maya, Amy, and Mark gathered in the library to brainstorm ideas for their campaign. Maya pulled out a notebook and began sketching a plan. "We need to make people realize how much waste they create every day," she said. "What if we organize a 'Trash Awareness Week'?" Amy’s eyes lit up. "We could challenge students to collect and sort waste, showing them how much could be recycled instead of thrown away!" Mark, still skeptical, crossed his arms. "But will they care enough to participate?" Maya grinned. "That’s where creativity comes in. We’ll make it fun—competitions, prizes, maybe even a school-wide cleanup event." Mark sighed, but a small smile tugged at his lips. "Alright, I guess it’s worth a shot." With that, their mission to change minds—and save the environment—officially began.

The next day, Maya, Amy, and Mark started working on their campaign. They designed colorful posters with messages like “Recycle Today, Save Tomorrow” and “Small Actions, Big Impact!”. With the help of their teachers, they put the posters all over the school.
Soon, other students became curious. Some asked questions, while others started picking up trash. Even the principal noticed their efforts and allowed them to make an announcement during the morning assembly.
"Join us in making our school cleaner and greener!" Maya said confidently. "Let's show that we care about our planet."
By the end of the week, more students joined their cause. They organized a school cleanup event, and even Mark, who was once doubtful, worked hard to collect plastic bottles.
Looking at the clean schoolyard, Maya smiled. "See? A small change can make a big difference!" Amy and Mark nodded, feeling proud. Their journey had just begun.

But this feat instead of calming them had awakened in them the desire to go further. Now that the students at the school were aware of the benefits of keeping their school clean and more young people were joining their cause, Maya thought she needed to go further. Get that desire for positive change out of school and into their small village.
She shared this idea with all her enthusiastic classmates who decided to take action in each neighbourhood.
