Louie Golf is played annually from October 1 through April 1. It is designed to be both fun and an opportunity to practice a variety of golf shots.

Players may request special dispensation to participate outside of these dates by seeking approval from the G.R.I. Committee.

                    First Tee - Breakfast Ball 

Players may have a Breakfast ball on the first tee.  If not used, the Breakfast ball can be saved  for a later tee shot during the round.   

The player must declare use of the Breakfast ball before hitting the shot.

                    Approach Shot to the Green 

On each hole, a player is allowed one redo (Mulligan), defined as a single replay of an approach shot to the green.

A player must decide if the result of his/her original shot is better than attempting a redo (Mulligan) of the approach shot.  If a redo is attempted, the player may select the best of the two shots.

    The Ideal Approach Shot in Louie Golf

The Ideal Approach Shot is to hit the ball very close to the green (see picture).   

If this happens, the golfer may elect to take his / her redo (Mulligan) from that lie.  This gives the golfer two (2) shots on the chip which is a better percentage play than from hitting it out in the fairway.

                   Playing the Par Threes

The tee shot on a Par Three is actually considered an approach shot to the green.  

Therefore, a player may elect to hit the redo (Mulligan) as a second tee shot should the player not like the outcome of his/her first tee shot (i.e. ball goes in the water).

                        Putting the Ball

On every green, a player has a redo (Mulligan) on one putt.   

A word to the wise - a player must choose when to use the redo (Mulligan) putt that will yield the best results.

                       Provisional Declaration                                 (Out of Bounds is Out of Bounds )

A player is permitted to declare a Provisional Shot only when it is evident that the ball may have been hit toward an out of bounds stake, but the outcome of the shot remains uncertain.

A player cannot declare a Provisional Shot because he /she cannot see if the ball is on a green or not.
