In a small town beyond the hills lived a boy named Dirty Dan. Dirty Dan had an adventurous spirit and loved to get messy, the problem wasn't his wildness, but he simply never washed his hands, until one morning he fell very sick and after going to the doctor he found out he had gotten a nasty infection called toxocariasis. Toxocara is a type of worm that can infect dogs, cats, and even humans especially children, from soil or contaminated food. Dirty Dan got it because he didn't wash his hands well or at all before eating which caused him to consume the germs as well.

Ever since his experience with the infection he has learned to be better with hygiene and staying clean while reminding others to do the same. Although he hated getting sick he couldn't help but be curious about what he got sick with and why he couldn't see it on himself, he wanted to get a closer look and find out more about the parasite, He even asked around but not much luck. He realized It was up to him to use his big brains and resources around him to figure it out. Later that day Dirty Dan with the help of his mom, did some research on the specific items he would need for this activity.

 Soon enough they found out what they needed, an agar plate- to grow the media, an incubator- a heated box used to help keep the temperature steady for it to grow properly, and lastly a microscope to take a deeper look into the organisms not seen properly with regular eye sight. The next day Dirty Dan's mom surprised him and bought him the microscope, agar plates, and a miniature incubator along with protective eye wear and some gloves to protect himself from contamination. He was excited that he was finally able to study the parasite.

Everything was finally set and Dirty Dan wasted no time collecting samples from his surroundings. With gloves on, He scooped up a handful of soil from his backyard in 2 different spots and put them in a jar, he knew that to understand the sickness he needed to study the tiny creatures up close. so he rushed home to his makeshift laboratory which he made to be the corner of his room with all his necessities. Dirty Dan prepared his tools, He carefully spread the soil samples onto an agar plate, a special dish that would help him see any tiny organisms living in the dirt. 

Then he placed the plates inside his incubator which kept the samples to its right temperature so it stays good. As days passed Dirty Dan watched in awe as the agar plates transformed into a tiny world of its own. The colonies of bacteria sprouted like little cities but Dirty Dan was looking for something specific, The Toxocara worms. suddenly after eating dinner he washed his hands and went to study the samples. He set up his microscope and put the samples under, when he looked into his microscope he saw them, Tiny wiggling worms. He observed them very closely fascinated by their movements.
