This is Oskar. He is a little boy with
Asperger Syndrome. Oskar thinks
very logically because of this
syndrome. Oskar has been trying to
make sense of his father's death on
"The Worst Day". Oskar has also
been blaming himself for not picking
up the phone on "The Worst Day".

Oskar was searching around in his
Father's closet. He accidentally broken a
vase on the top shelf and found an
envelope. The word "Black" was written
on it and there was a key inside it. Oskar
knew that his father meant for him to find
the key. Oskar is now on a journey to find
"Black". Oskar needs to go to everyone in
New York City with the last name Black.

At first Oskar is overwhelmed by all of
his fears. Oskar's list of fears increased
on "The Worst Day". Some of Oscar's
fears include planes, tall things, shoes
without owners, bags without owners,
loud things, and things you can get
stuck in. Oskar uses his tambourine to
keep himself calm.

Oskar's mom knew that Oskar was
going to everyone named Black. She
needed to make sure that Oskar was
going to be safe. She went to
everyone's house before to prepare
them before he came by. Oskar's mom
did this out of love for him and to keep
him safe.

Oskar faces his biggest fear:
bridges. Oskar shakes his
tambourine and overcomes
and defeats the bridge. Oskar
is now on his journey.

"GO AWAY!"
Oskar meets many people
during his journey. Oskar's
secret grandfather helps Oskar
on his journey. Some of the
people that Oskar meets are
happy to help him but others
tell him to leave.

Oskar learns from his expierences that
people aren't like numbers but like
letters. Oskar calculates that it will take
3 years to complete his mission. He is
almost hopeless. Oskar then finds a
telephone number on newspaper that
his father has circled before he died.

He calls the number and Abby Black
(the first person Oskar visited) picks up
the phone. Oskar meets Abby Black and
she knows that the key belonged to her
ex-husband. Oscar finds out from Mr.
Black that the key accidentally became
Oskar's father's when he got a vase at
an estate sale. The key was actually
give to Mr. Black from Mr. Black's
father. This whole time the key wasn't
meant for Oskar.
