Who took the food?
Once upon a time in the forest deep in a cave lived three animals. A huge brown bear, a bushy-tailed fox and a small gray mouse.

At one end of the cave the bear kept the honey that he secretly took from the bees, roots and bulbs he found in the forest. The mouse found the bear's hiding place and whenever she was gone, he would sneak in and eat from her food that she had painstakingly gathered for the winter.

One day the bear came back hungry and went to its hiding place to get something to eat. But unfortunately he found nothing! All her food was missing!

- Oh no, I'll die if I don't eat. I feel hungry and now where will I find food? Winter is coming, it will be cold and it will snow outside, said the bear.
He began to search the entire cave for food. Her stomach was rumbling and she was very upset. Soon the fox and the mouse arrived at the cave.

The bear asked the fox and the mouse if they ate her food.
- No, no we didn't eat it, said the fox and the mouse. Now what are we going to eat all winter?
-You ate it, mouse! Said the bear.
- No, I didn't, answered the mouse.
- Then you ate them, fox.
- No, no, answered the fox.
- But we can all go and look in the forest together to find food, said the mouse.
- We have no other solution, let's go find food in the forest, said the bear.
So they all started together to find food in the forest.

When they came to the forest, they all decided to go in separate directions to find food faster. The mouse saw an anthill in the forest. The ants were carrying food to their nests by helping each other.
The mouse asked one of the ants
-How do you find and save
so much food?
Really great. Ant said.
-We always work together honestly
and cooperatively. In winter,
we share your food at the nursery. T
his way, we will have plenty of food and not go hungry.

- You are well organized, said the mouse.
While the ant heads for the anthill, the mouse was amazed by the activity of the ants, was thinking about how to solve his problem and began to make plans:
”If I admit that I ate all the food,
the bear and the fox will drive me
out of the cave, thought the mouse.
Winter is coming andI have nowhere
to shelter and no food.
Surely the bear and the fox
will protect me, if I tell them
that I have found the thief
who took the food from the cave.”

”If I admit that I ate all the food, the bear and the fox will drive me out of the cave, thought the mouse. Winter is coming and I have nowhere to shelter and no food. Surely the bear and the fox will
protect me, if I tell them that I have found the thief who took the food from the cave.”
The mouse went to the cave to tell his friends that he found out who took the food. While the mouse waited in the cave, the bear and the fox headed for the shelter with the baskets full of blackberries and raspberries. The mouse greets them at the entrance to the cave.

-Oh ! I'm glad you found food
and came with your baskets
full, said the mouse
- I found a raspberry tree
full of fruit, said the bear
- I found blackberries, said the fox,
but did you find something to eat?
- Oh! You see, said the mouse,
I didn't find anything to eat,
but I found the thief who took
the bear's food.
- Really? Tell me who the thief is,
so I can go and punish him.

- Searching for food in the forest, I saw a lot of ants carrying food on their backs and storing it in their anthill.
There were many ants, as many as leaves and grass, and they were powerful. Definitely, they must have taken your food. They crept one by one into the cave, took the food on their backs and carried it to their anthill.
„Hmm“ growled the bear and headed to the anthill followed by the fox and the mouse who was happy how she solved the situation.
The bear stomped so much that the ant were scared and ran to their anthill with all the food on their backs.
The bear and the fox stopped right against the anthill, the mouse was watching the situation from distance.
All the poor little ants were shaking with fear in the anthill and nobody understood what happened.
The bear went down to the anthill and shouted: „You thiefs! Give me back my food! I want it back immediatelly! Ants, You little thiefs!“
There was silence for a while, we couldn’t hear anything from the anthill. So the bear shouted again and again. Finally, the strongest and the most courageous
ant stood up on the top of the anthill. He started to wave at the bear to make
him notice himself. The bear was angry,
he frown at the ant to blow him down
the anthill. The ant waved wildly by his legs,
arms and tentacles to stop the bear.

They search for twigs, blueberries and other berries for all the summer and autumn, to nobody in the anthill suffer from hunger during the winter.
„Bear, I‘ m so sorry that somebody stole your food supplies but We are not the thiefs! Ask Your friends, maybe somebody lies and maybe somebody secretly ate your food.“
The bear noded and made sure that the ants are honest and they found their food themselves.
Then the bear said to the ants:
-Looks like I was wrong. I accused you without evidence. I'm so sorry.
- I'm sorry too, said the fox.
But the mouse, who was afraid that they would understand his lie, thought of blaming someone else.
- Hmm, I apologize too, said the mouse.

-Bear, since the ants didn't steal your food, some other animal did, continued the mouse.
-I have to find the thief somehow orthe food we collected together with the fox may be in danger again. If they steal it from us, we will starve when winter comes, said the bear.
- Bear, said the mouse.
-Now I remembered something that
might help us. When we were looking
for food in the forest, I saw the
squirrel enter the tree hollow outside
your cave carrying a basket.
The basket was full.
Maybe it has your food in it.-

- Then I must immediately find the squirrel, said the bear angrily and headed for her cave without thinking that before the mouse had wrongly accused the ants.
- Squirrel, squirrel quickly come out, shouted the bear.
The squirrel came out frightened by the angry voice of the bear.
-Did you steal my food? asked the bear.

-Of course no, I didn't steal,
said Squirrel with fear.
The bear looked at him
angrily and this little mouse
saw you walking away with
a full basket. "So what will you say now?" he added.

The squirrel looked at the mouse and then at the bear.
-Yes, I went with a full basket in my hand, but I collected my own food and buried it under the ground. Then I took out the food I collected and took it home.

The squirrel suddenly raised its head and said loudly:
-Hey big bear and little mouse, you are blaming everyone else, maybe you took the food but you are not telling because of fear.
The bear and the mouse were surprised.
- "Why would I steal my own food?" the bear said confidently.
The bear was right, the food was his anyway. But the mouse's heart started beating very fast. His fear was increasing.
Oh no, I'm about to get caught now, he thought. And he started making an escape plan in his head.

-Well, I found it!!! thought the Mouse, I will steal the food that the Ants have collected and put it back in the Bear's hiding place. That way, we will all have food and no one will know that I stole it. The ants have collected so much food they won't know they're missing.

Meanwhile, the Fox and the Bear, who was still upset, had moved away.
The Fox, who may have been cunning but was also clever, had begun to suspect the Mouse, and told the Bear about its suspicions.
-Bear, I think I know who is the thief
but also the big liar! And we have to
teach it a good lesson. Bad actions
have consequences!!!
I think, I know what we have to do to
catch"the mouse in the lens" ,
said the Fox .
The Bear agreed and they decided
to set a trap for the Mousse to expose
its lie. They thought of asking the help of
the Ants that they had so unjustly accused

The next morning, the Mouse sneaked off to the Ants' nest, ready to implement his latest plan...

He secretly waited behind a stone for the ants to leave the nest. As the ants left their nest one by one, the mouse thought, "If they come out as soon as possible, I can fill my basket."

What does a mouse see when it silently comes out of the anthill after filling the entire basket? The Bear and the Fox are looking at him.
'What you did is very wrong, mouse,' said the bear. Go and apologize to the ants and never take anyone's food without permission again. Remember, there is no meal without effort! said.
The mouse was very embarrassed
and learned his lesson, first
he apologized to the bear and the fox,
then he went to the ants and
apologized to the queen ant and
then to the other ants one by one,
and promised not to do it again.
