Abraham Lincoln
This book is about a former president of the United States, who has impacted our world from before his presidency, to his death. He is one of the most well known people that you will learn about in school. He is known for his great contribution in ending slavery!

I was born in 1809 in a log cabin in Harden County.
Before becoming president of the United States, I worked with my father who was a farmer and a carpenter. He never learned how to read or write, so I had to teach myself.
As the middle child, I lived with my parents, brother, and sister.
We were constantly moving for work.
When I was 9 years old, my mother passed away. I was upset, but knew that my purpose in life would be to make her proud. I owed everything to my mother. Although I loved my mother very much, I did not often mention her in what I would do.. maybe because I was still in denial, but I was too young to understand.

Here is a picture of my mother.
After working with my father for so many years, I decided to try something different. Eventually I found my passion wanting to practice law, which was a big deal for me and my family.
I studied for many years before eventually becoming part of a legislative group.

Here is me speaking with a bunch of men in my fellow legislature.

When I was 51 years old, slavery had become very popular and I did not
support it. I wanted to make a change and become an advocate for the people caught in slavery...

On October 16, 1854, after seeing what was going on in my country, I decided it was time to change things up and start my presidency race.
I declared my choice during my Peoria speech, which stated my opposition against slavery. It was time for me to start making a change..

I have always been anti-slavery, which simply meant that I am against slavery. I believed there were many wrong things about slavery, specifically that it went against the Constitution and what our founding fathers stated.

Here is a photo of our Founding Fathers:

Those who deny freedom to others, deserve it not for themselves; and, under a just God, can not long retain it. I think Slavery is wrong, morally, and politically.
