To all the brave children facing challenges:
This story is for you. Remember, even on the toughest days, you have a strength inside you that is stronger than any obstacle. Like a seed growing through the soil to reach the light, you too are growing, learning, and becoming more resilient each day. Keep believing in yourself, and know that you are never alone. Someone always cares about you, ready to help and listen. You are loved, you are important, and you can overcome anything.
With love and hope,
Suzette Smith

In a colourful pond filled with laughter and fun, there lived a grumpy little tadpole named Jean-Pierre. Jean-Pierre wasn’t like the others —he didn’t smile much, and he often kept to himself. He felt a strange sensation inside, a feeling he couldn’t quite understand.
One day, Jean-Pierre was feeling particularly grumpy. When Olivia, a tiny duckling, fluttered by to join a game, Jean-Pierre pushed her aside. “Go away, Olivia! I don’t want to play with you!” he snapped. Then, when John the jamming fish offered Jean-Pierre a seed to cheer him up, Jean-Pierre swatted it away. "I don't want your seeds, John! Leave me alone!" he growled.
Everyone in the pond began to whisper. “Why is Jean-Pierre so mean to everyone?” they wondered. Olivia, feeling hurt, turned to John. “Why is Jean-Pierre being like this? I just wanted to be friends.”
John thought for a moment and then spoke wisely. “Maybe Jean-Pierre is going through a tough time,” he said. “Sometimes, when someone feels upset or confused, they act out. But that doesn’t mean they truly want to be mean.”

Olivia decided to be brave. The next day, she flew over to Jean-Pierre. “Hi, Jean-Pierre,” she said gently. “Are you okay? You seem really upset, and we’re worried about you.”
Jean-Pierre looked up, surprised. No one had asked him that before. His eyes softened, and he sighed. “I’m just... I’m just feeling strange,” Jean-Pierre mumbled. “My body feels weird, like it’s changing, and I don’t know what’s happening. I don’t like it. It scares me.”
Olivia nodded with understanding. “Change can be really scary,” she agreed. “But you don’t have to go through it alone. We can talk about it, and maybe it won’t feel so bad.”
Jean-Pierre’s grumpy face softened a little more. “Really? You don’t mind talking about it?” he asked.
“Not at all,” Olivia replied with a smile. “And I bet others would want to help too if you let them know how you’re feeling.”
Jean-Pierre took a deep breath. “I’m sorry for being mean to everyone,” he said. “I just didn’t know how to handle all these changes.”
Olivia smiled warmly. “It’s okay, Jean-Pierre. We all go through changes, and it’s okay to feel scared. But remember, you’re not alone.”
From that day on, Jean-Pierre started to open about his feelings. He learned that it was okay to fear change and that talking to friends made things easier. Olivia, John, Daisy, and all the other animals in the pond helped Jean-Pierre feel better.
And so, the pond became even brighter and happier. With Jean-Pierre and Olivia leading the way, they showed everyone that understanding, and kindness could turn a tough time into a beautiful friendship. Jean-Pierre was still changing, but now he knew that he wasn’t alone—and that made all the difference.
In time, Jean-Pierre would become a beautiful frog, and he realized that sometimes, change could be a wonderful thing.
