He is Dumb
El es menso
Mexico, 2005
My brain worked, but my mouth didn't. I was born this way. The people in my home country of Mexico always said mean things to me and about me. They all said I was menso.
Things in Mexico were hard, and we were poor. My parents moved us to the United States where we could go to school and have better opportunities.

I am Strong.
I am Smart.
I am important.
Yo soy fuerte.
Yo Soy inteligente.
Yo soy Importante.

The Bullying continued. I was alone a lot. But, I loved myself. I knew that I didn't have to listen to what others said. I would look at myself in the mirror everyday and say, "I am strong, I am smart and I am important" until I believed it.
El acoso continuó. Estuve mucho tiempo sola.

Gracias a Dios!
Thank you God!

Se llama anquiloglosia, y podemos arreglarlo.

My mom and dad took me to the doctor where we met Dr. Maria Campos. She examined my mouth said it was called, Ankylossia. My tongue was stuck and couldn't move far. The doctor said it can be fixed with surgery. There was problem though.

We were a family of 5 and could not afford it.
We did not have the money, but we were happy. We loved one another. I was fine with not getting the surgery.
