

Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, there was a place called Egypt where many people lived. This great country, located in North Africa by the Mediterranean Sea, is a place full of history, as it is one of the oldest civilizations.

Do you know the name of the most important and longest river in Africa?

In this country, you could find one of the most important and longest rivers in Africa: the Nile River.
The vast majority of the inhabitants of this country were slaves, and their work, among other things, was to build pyramids. These pyramids were constructed as royal tombs to hold the bodies of the pharaohs when they died.
The pharaohs who were buried in the pyramids after they died were the ones who ruled the country, but they were also the connection between the people and the gods.

The gods of Egypt were 14, and each of them had a specific function.

10. Khepri: God of Renewal
11. Hathor: Goddess of Love, Beauty, and Music
12. Ma'at: Goddess of Truth and Justice
13. Sekhmet: Goddess of War and Healing
14. Nut: Goddess of the Sky

The ancient Egyptians believed that animals represented divine aspects and saw them as manifestations of the gods or as symbolic beings of their powers. Many gods and goddesses were depicted with animal heads or human-animal combinations.
The most common animals were cats, dogs, cattle, crocodiles, the falcon, the scarab, snakes, and scorpions.

The Egyptians communicated in the Egyptian language, which evolved over time into Old Egyptian, then Middle Egyptian, and finally, Late Egyptian.
They had a way to communicate through writing: hieroglyphics. These were used to represent sounds, ideas, and objects.

The ancient Egyptians wore linen clothes.
Women wore ankle-length dresses and men wore skirts.
Normally the Egyptians walked barefoot but sometimes wore sandals.
