The eyes are what let you see. When light goes into the
eye through the cornea, the iris changes its shape to let
the light go through to the pupil. After light gets to the
pupil, the lens sends it to the retina in the very back of
the eye, where messages are then sent to the brain
through the optic nerve and made into sight.

Eye diseases, that'sthat stuff I don't like!

Glaucoma is when the optic nerve in your eye is damaged because of
a large amount of pressure.
Myopia is when you can see things that are close to you, but things
that are far away from you are less clear.
Astigmatism is when the cornea in your eye curves and your sight
becomes blurry.
Presbyopia is not being able to see things that are close to you.
Cataracts make your sight worse by clouding the lens in your eye.
Conjunctivitis is a swelling of the eyelids.
Diseases of the Eyes

I'm all ears!

Now, we'll talk about hearing.

The EarThe ears are what let you hear. As sound waves enter
the pinna and move into the ear canal, they soon
reach the eardrum in the middle ear. The eardrum
turns the sound waves into vibrations. These vibrations
are then sent to the cochlea in the inner ear and
made into hearing. The semicircular canals in the
inner ear help keep you balanced.

Diseases of the EarsOtitis is an ear infection.
Meniere's disease is when your inner ear is
damaged and you lose your balance.
Otosclerosis is when the bones in your ear
grow wrong and you lose your hearing.
Presbycusis is hearing loss that happens as
you get older.

You taste funny!

The TongueBitterSourSourSaltySaltySweetThe tongue is what lets
you taste. It is a group of
muscles inside the
mouth that has taste
buds on it. The taste
buds let you taste sweet
at the tip of the tongue,
salty and sour on the
sides, and bitter in the
back. The tongue can
also help you do things
like chew, swallow, and
talk.

There are over 3hunnataste buds on the tongue!

Diseases of the TongueAguesia is not being able to taste
your food.
Hypoguesia is when you can still
taste your food, but your ability to
taste is decreased.
