
FEDEX FLIGHT 80
On March 23, 2009 a cargo plane FedEx was travelling from China to Tokyo, Japan started its journey. The only people on board the aircraft were the Captain, Kevin Kyle Mosley, 54, of Hillsboro, Oregon, and First Officer Anthony Stephen Pino, 49, of San Antonio, Texas. The plane took of from China. It was going good . Everything changed when they started to descend the aircraft. The plane was facing a lot of turbulence. As soon as they touched the runway the plane started to bounce.
The plane tilted towards the right side and the wing touched the ground. The plane turned upside down and crashed. 2 people lost their life in this incident.
American Airlines Flight 11
American Airlines Flight 11 was a domestic flight from Logan International Airport in Boston to Los Angeles International Airport. On September 11, 2001, the flight was hijacked by terrorists within 15 minutes of departure . The hijackers took control of the plane and redirected it towards New York City . At 8:46 AM, the plane crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center, causing massive destruction and loss of life
United Airlines Flight 175
United Airlines Flight 175 was a scheduled flight from Logan International Airport in Boston to Los Angeles International Airport. On September 11, 2001, the flight was taken over by terrorists approximately 30 minutes after takeoff.
After being hijacked, the plane deviated from its flight path and turned toward New York City. At 9:03 AM, it crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center, between floors 77 and 85. The impact caused massive destruction and a devastating fire that led to the tower's eventual collapse.
This tragic event, along with the crash of American Airlines Flight 11, marked one of the most devastating terrorist attacks in history, profoundly impacting the world.
Pan Am Flight 1736 and KLM Flight 4805
Background: Both flights were diverted to Los Rodeos Airport on the Spanish island of Tenerife due to a bomb threat at their original destination, Gran Canaria . This diversion led to congestion on the airport’s single runway .
The Crash: On the day of the disaster, fog severely limited visibility at the airport . Pan Am Flight 1736, a Boeing 747-121, was taxiing on the runway to take off when KLM Flight 4805, another Boeing 747-206B, initiated its takeoff run . Due to the fog and miscommunication between the control tower and the KLM flight crew, the KLM plane mistakenly believed it had clearance for takeoff .
Collision: The KLM flight collided with the Pan Am aircraft, which was still on the runway . The impact caused both planes to catch fire, resulting in the tragic deaths of 248 people on KLM Flight 4805 and 335 people on Pan Am Flight 1736, with only 61 survivors from the Pan Am flight .
Aftermath: This disaster remains the deadliest aviation accident in history and led to significant changes in international aviation safety protocols, including improved communication standards and the mandatory use of standardized phraseology in air traffic control.
Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight 763 and Kazakhstan Airlines Flight 1907
Background: Both flights were in route to New Delhi, India. Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight 763 was a Boeing 747-168B, while Kazakhstan Airlines Flight 1907 was an Ilyushin Il-76TD .
The Crash: Due to a combination of miscommunication, altitude deviations, and poor visibility, the two aircraft collided mid-air over the village of Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, India . The KLM flight descended below its assigned altitude, while the Saudi Arabian flight was climbing, leading to the tragic collision.
Impact: The collision caused both planes to break apart and crash into the ground, resulting in the deaths of all 349 people on board both aircraft . It remains the deadliest mid-air collision in aviation history.
