As DeMarcus the third walks into his small home, he can feel the vibe is off. He goes over to the table to see a letter to head to the hospital. He quickly grabs his coat and runs to the hospital.
“Hi my name is Demarcus, I live on 456 mulberry Drive. I got this letter on my table and came as fast as I could.” He said running out of breath.
“Hello Demarcus, I’m the doctor here at this hospital, I’m so sorry to inform you but your family has passed due to gas being leaked into your home.”
Demarcus looked down and couldn’t hold back tears. Being a son of a priest and not getting to have your father next to you to be there. Will be very hard. He just tried to calm down and walked out of the hospital.
Almost 2 years later. Demarcus hasn’t been doing very well so he took a break from going to Church, “If god is real, why would he let me go through this much pain?" he thought.
He felt like it was the right time to go back and try again. He was all alone. He didn’t have his brother or even his family. He has been in such deep depression he couldn’t even get up out of bed. All he wanted to do was stay in bed and not even think about reality. Once he got there he looked at the spot he used to sit with his family. He took a moment to think and sat down in his spot. Once church started he felt like he could feel his dads presence.
Once the Priest had started to talk he felt a feeling he hasn’t felt in awhile. He started to think more and just got lost in his thoughts, he thought how his Mom would feel, his little brother that looked up to him, most of all his Father. His Father had meant so much to him, He had wanted to be a priest just like his father. Since his father wasn’t there it was really hard for him to follow his footsteps.
Once He had snapped back to earth he just listened to what the speaker had to say. He had stayed after church was over and just prayed, one of the priests had come up to him to speak. DeMarcus had started to speak what was on his mind, he found himself telling the priest his whole life story. It was different because it felt great to talk.
Once Demarcus got home he cleaned up his mess, and started to get his life together. He was tired of being lazy and wanted to make his father proud. Once he cleaned his room, he did the dishes, took the trash out, and started doing some small yard work. The sun slowly went down and he sat on his front steps and watched it go down. His mom loved to watch sunsets so he started talking to her even though he knew he wouldn't get a response.
Once Demarcus felt like the right time he went to bed. He kept waking up rolling around all through the night. Before he even knew it, his alarm was going off and he got up and felt like a zombie. He got dressed and ready for the day. He went back to the church to see if he could find a job there. Even if he didn’t get paid that much. “We all start somewhere” He would tell himself.
He found the same Priest he was talking to yesterday, His name was Priest Roman but most would call him Mr, Roman. “Hi Mr, Roman I was wondering if there is any job or even just a job to help around? I will take anything” Demarcus says with a smirk but deep down he was scared.
“Hey you know what Demarcus, there is an opening that I think would be great for you. You can help me and the other Priests around in the back office. You would have your own not big but a room, you would just help organize but more of an Assistant.” He says while patting Demarcus back.
“Yes please, I will take anything. I just need to start something. I'm afraid that if I just keep putting this off that I will lose motivation, and fall back into the hole it took so long to get out of.” Demarcus had said but he seemed to be down after.
“Hey even if that does happen, you are trying so that is a start. We all have ups and downs, so I think this job will be great for you.” Roman had said while trying to comfort Demarcus.
They walked back to the little room that Demarcus will be working in. Once you walk in, you can tell that it hasn't been used in quite a while. It had cobwebs, dust, little spiders, and a musty smell. Roman left Demarcus to get used to it. There was a little window so he thought to open it to get some fresh air. Once he tried to spin the knob he had to use all his power. “When was the last time someone was in this room?” He thought to himself while shaking his head.
