It was a sunny day in the Arts and Crafts class.
The students were excited because their teacher, Miss Rose, told them to make something that showed who they were.
Miguel, who had just moved from Mexico, smiled. He knew exactly what he wanted to make.

Miguel carefully shaped a colorful piñata out of paper and glue. He added bright red, green, and white decorations, the colors of his country’s flag.

“Wow! What are you making, Miguel?” Aske Ana, sitting next to him.

“It’s a piñata! In Mexico, we fill them with candy for celebrations”
Cristian, who was working nearby, looked over at Miguel’s project.
“That looks strange,” Cristian said “Why don’t you make something normal, like a paper airplane?”

Miguel’s smile faded.
Ana turned to Cristian.

“That’s not fair, Cristian. Miguel is showing us something special about his culture. I think it’s amazing!”
Cristian shrugged.

“Well, it’s not something we do here.”
Miguel felt nervous.
“I wanted to share something from Mexico… but maybe it’s not good enough,” he said softly.

Miss Rose, who had been watching, walked over.
“Miguel, your piñata is wonderful! Can you explain to the class what it’s for?”

Miguel took a deep breath.
“In Mexico, we use piñatas during birthdays and parties. You hit them with a stick to break them open, and candy falls out. It’s so much fun!”

The other students listened with wide eyes.
“That sounds awesome!” said Ana. She turned to Cristian. “Don’t you think it’s cool to learn about other traditions?

“I guess… I didn’t know it was for something fun like that.”

Miguel smiled again.
“You can help me finish it if you want,” he offered.
“Really?” Cristian asked. “Okay, maybe I can help with the decorations.”

The three kids worked together, adding colorful paper and ribbons to the piñata. By the end of the class, it was the most beautiful project in the room.
“This is a great example of teamwork and sharing traditions!”

Cristian looked at Miguel.
“I’m sorry for what I said earlier. Your piñata is really cool.”

“Thanks,” Miguel said, smiling. “Maybe next time, we can fill one with candy and have a party!”

The moral of the story is that being open-minded and kind helps us learn from others and appreciate their unique talents and cultures. Everyone has something valuable to share, and inclusion makes us stronger as a group. The takeaway message is that we should respect and celebrate differences instead of judging them. By including others and working together, we can create beautiful things and build friendships that make everyone feel valued and accepted.
