It all started on a warm sunny day in Athens, Ohio....

Allie was headed to her first COMS 1010 class.

Sitting in class, she listened to Dan West talk 

about communication and how it all starts with 

the self...

Since Allie was just a shy/quiet girl, she was 

not very good at communicating with others. 

She was afraid to open up and did not like to 

step outside her comfort zone.

But after listening to Dan West, she found 

ways to better the things she wasn't good at! 

She started the journey with finding ways to 

better herself.

First, stepping out of her comfort zone a lot, 

she started doing things all on your own...

Allie got a job with the university and joined 

Alpha Phi Omega!

Both of these big steps helped with Allie's 

interactions with others...

She was no longer able to be shy, she needed 

to talk with people in a professional way,

But have no fear, (Dan West) taught her those 

ways. 

So after Allie bettered the relationship and 

communication with herself, she decided to 

move on and work on the communications 

inside her relationships...

Since Allie is kind of stubborn, her 

communication with her boyfriend isn't always 

the best :) 

But after learning how to really maintain a 

relationship, Allie now knows she has to see 

both sides and can't just jump right to the 

point. 

This applies to every relationship that you 

hold!

When in a fight with your friends, or parents 

even, you have to see both sides of the story!

Since recently Allie has been becoming more 

comfortable in her skin, her relationships with 

her friends have improved because she has 

been able to open up more with other people. 

She isn't afraid to state her mind or add to the 

daily conversations that take place at lunch! 

And she can add to conversations in a postive 

way now because she knows the correct way 

to talk among her friends!
