Once upon a time, there lived King Hässlich and Queen Hässlicher. They loved telling the Germans about the most important events in Church history. They believed that if
everyone knew about these, that they would know why Christians are so devoted to
their church. And so...our story begins.

Emperor Constantine's Edict of Milan, stated thatChristians were not to be persecuted for worshiping God.
Passed in 312, this ended the christian persecutions.

In AD 325, Constantine's council in Nicaea helped the christiansunderstand that God is one being with three personalities. This
helped modern day christians understand God's nature.

St. Augustine's conversion from a former lifeof loose living, which included parties,
entertainment, and worldly sins. God saved him
and showed us that anyone, no matter what you've
done, can know God's powerful love.

in an age when Greek forms still dominated much of the intellectual thoughts of Christianity, Jerome demonstrated that Christian learning could also be expressed,
in Latin. He translated the Bible into Latin for everyone to be able to read in AD 405.

The Council of Chalcedon met in AD 451 in Chalcedon, a city in Asia Minor. The council’s ruling was an important step in figuring out the nature of
Christ and of the Trinity. The council made rules for one of the most significant
events in church history - the Great Schism.

The prophet Muhammad's or "flight," from Mecca to Medina to escape persecution.
In Medina, Muhammad set about building
the followers of his religion into an organized
community and Arabian power. The Hegira
marked the beginning of the Muslim calendar.

At the Battle of Tours near Poitiers, France, Frankish leader Charles Martel, a Christian, defeats a large army of Muslims,
halting the Muslim advance into Western Europe. This allowed
Jerusalem to be kept and saved.
