Wang Zijie was born on December 22, 1925 (the 14th year of the Republic of China). In 1937 (the 26th year of the Republic of China), on July 7, he attempted to join the military after being unable to complete his studies but was rejected. Fortunately, a senior officer took him in as a service soldier, with duties such as attending to daily living needs. Over the years, he grew in the military and eventually met the conditions to formally enlist. He participated in the Second Sino-Japanese War (known as the Eight-Year War of Resistance) and witnessed victory.

After the war, he hoped to return to his hometown, but during the Huaihai Campaign, he was captured. Unwilling to accept communist ideology, he made a secret pact with six others to escape. Their journey took them first to Qingdao and then to Keelung, Taiwan.
After arriving in Taiwan, the government was actively promoting anti-communist slogans. At that time, he still held hope of returning to his hometown, but over time, it became clear that this dream was unattainable. During his more than 60 years in Taiwan, his military service took him to every corner of the island. In 1958 (47th year of the Republic), he participated in the 823 Artillery Bombardment in Kinmen, and by 1964, he was stationed in Penghu. From 1974 to 1982, he lived in Matsu. His 35-year military career came to an end on November 1, 1983 (72nd year of the Republic of China), due to age limits.
After the government allowed family visits to mainland China, he returned to his hometown several times, but while the scenery remained
the same, the people and circumstances had completely changed.
He married in 1967 (56th year of the Republic of China). His children were filial and took great care of him in his daily life. He lived with his children and grandchildren, but in 2020 (109th year of the Republic of China), he was hospitalized due to a cerebral hemorrhage. Three years later, in July 2023 (112th year of the Republic of China), he passed away in the hospital.
