In the vast, endless sky, there lived many stars, each one unique and full of life.
These weren’t ordinary stars that twinkled silently in the night. No, these stars were alive with a purpose. They danced across the heavens, shining brightly, singing praises to God, and celebrating the wonders of creation. Every night, they moved in perfect harmony, shining with beauty and grace, telling stories of light and hope.
One of the brightest stars, named Oriel, had always loved to move. He would sway with the wind of the galaxies, his light so beautiful that the other stars smiled in admiration. He moved and led his friends, in the swirl of galaxies
But Oriel had a question that lingered in his heart. “Why did the Creator say we would be signs for those on the earth?” he wondered. “We move and shine, but how are we signs?”
Oriel's curiosity was soon to be answered. One day, there was great excitement and chattering among the stars. All the brightest of them, Sirius, Aldeberan, Regulus, Antares, Orion, were buzzing with anticipation. Oriel asked why there was such commotion.
“Tonight, a message will come. A message from the Creator, for all of us. A special task will be given.” Oriel’s heart rejoiced. He had always been eager to serve, but he had no idea what the Creator could possibly ask of a star like him.
That night, the stars hushed their singing to listen. The silence of the cosmos was broken by a Voice, the great Voice of God.
“One will be born on Earth, a Child who will change everything. A King who will bring light to the world. I need a star to guide the way.”
The stars paused, feeling the privilege of this assignment.
The Creator continued,“But this mission is different. For the first time ever, the star who takes on this assignment must stop moving and dancing. You will stop. You stop in a place I tell you, and there you will remain."
The stars went silent. Oriel couldn’t believe it. No star had ever stopped. Stars were meant to move, to twirl and glide through the heavens. What happened to a star that stopped? Would it still shine? Would it even be a star?
Oriel remembered that the Creator was always good and wise. He was uncertain of what this would mean, but wanted to please God. He moved forward, and said, “Here am I, Lord. Send me”.
The Creator smiled, and showed Oriel the special path he must now follow. “Go exactly where I tell you, and be ready to stop when I tell you”.
He felt a weight of responsibility settle on his, some doubts, but also trust in God This was his purpose, his task, and he was ready. He headed out.
Far below, the world was unaware of the great change that was about to come in the skies. But in the far east, a group of wise men studied the skies, their eyes trained on the stars.
For years, they had searched for signs and omens, and when they saw Oriel's brilliant light moving through the sky, they knew this was the sign they had been waiting for. This is it,” said one of the wise men, his voice full of awe. “The star we have been searching for. It’s guiding us to the King.”
