Ankara Castle is one of the
oldest and most important
historical structures in the city.
Located on a hill overlooking
the center of the capital Ankara,
the castle has a magnificent
location that offers a bird's eye view of the city. The castle bears traces from the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods, and in this respect, it sheds light on Ankara's multi-layered history. My students want to host Leaf at Ankara Castle and show her around.

The Arch of Galerius, or “Kamara,” is one of the most well-known monuments in Thessaloniki. It looks like a big stone gate. It is located in the center of the city, near the church called Rotonda. Many, many years ago, an emperor named Galerius wanted to build something impressive so that everyone would remember how brave he was. So, they built this arch – which we now call “Kamara.” It is like a huge stone arch that looks like a bridge in the air! On it, there are many pictures made of stone. These pictures show horses, soldiers, and scenes from the battles and victories of Galerius

The White Tower was built in the 15th century, it used to be called the "Blood Tower" (Kanli Koule), because it was a prison and place of execution of convicts.Convict Nathan Guelendy, in exchange for his freedom, exercised the Tower. From then until today it is called "White Tower". Today it functions as a Museum and has 6 floors. The last term is "Exostis" and from there you can see the whole Sea and Thessaloniki.
WHITE TOWER
8th Kindergarten Neapoli (Class 1)
Leafy has finally arrived at the 8th Kindergarten of Neapolis. The students of Class 1 are taking it to a famous monument in their area...to a somewhat low tower, built next to the walls, a fortification project, with a twin brother, the White Tower, and with a balcony overlooking the Thermaikos Gulf!
What monument is this? "The Tower of Trigonio! "

With the gentle breeze, Leafy soars above the ancient walls of enchanting Thessaloniki. Around 1,700 years ago, people built its first walls—strong and proud, with towers as majestic as the mythical Trigonion Tower.
They still stand today, guardians of time, whispering stories of kings and knights, reminding us how people once protected their city!

2nd Kindergarten of Neapoli (Class 2)
From the balcony of the Tower of Trigonio Leafy noticed a status standing next to the White Tower. Suddenly rememberd what the kids of 2nd kindergarten of Neapolis said to him "on the beach of Thessaloniki next to the White Tower, stands the statue of Alexander the Great, King of Macedonia. He is depicted riding Bucephalus, a war horse that accompanied the Macedonian general on his campaigns for 20 years. It is the work of the sculptor Evangelos Moustakas in 1973 . The height of the statue is 6 meters and it weighs 4 tons. The total height including the pedestal is 11 meters. The complex also contains two arrays of shields and sarissas. The array to the west consists of 5 shields and sarissas while the one to the north consists of 3 shields and sarissas. The arrays of shields with sarissas symbolize the ordinary Macedonian soldiers who took part in the campaign of Alexander the Great."

"How big this statue is! I'm tired and want to rest a little," said Leafy. Then a gentle breeze carried her towards the large, transparent umbrellas of Zongolopoulos that adorn the beach of Thessaloniki.
"Oh! How beautiful it is here!" she thought. "I see people walking, children playing, I hear laughter and songs, I admire the blue sky and the endless sea. I feel very happy, because the air gently caresses me and the bright sun warms me. And if it rains, I can protect myself. After all, the world is big and full of wonders! I saw, heard and learned so many things that I can't wait to tell my friends."
Then the wind took her gently back to her homeland, and she had a great story to tell the other leaves. A story about light, joy, monuments and a journey she would never forget and which could help her win the competition.
