     It is the fourth planet from the Sun, known for its deep canyons, rusty red color, and massive volcanoes. All these features make Mars the most fascinating planet in our solar system.

The surface is... Weird.

What do you think the planet Mars is? Mars, the fourth planet from the sun, is red, solid, and its rocky surface is made of iron rust. It is covered with volcanoes and craters. Its core is made entirely, maybe partially, of iron. It has ice caps that are thick at the south and north poles. It takes almost two years to orbit the sun. 

What planet has a year that is 687 days? It's Mars! Mars and Earth are on the same side of the Sun and closest to each other. It is the fourth planet from the Sun, and the farthest terrestrial planet.  It is a big planet, with lots of stuff.

Rusty Red. Why?

Mars is red. Why? Scientists think that the rusty color from the planet is in the past when there was water on the planet. Now, they are thinking something else about mars. New data suggests the red hue of Mars is caused by something else: Meteor showers! Now, scientists are rethinking theories they have long held to be true about Earth's neighbor. Red, and pummeled.
