Johannes Vermeer

Johannes Vermeer is a Dutch painter who was born on October 31, 1632 and who died on december 15, 1675 . He was maried with Catharina Bolenes and he had 3 children: Comelia Vermeer, Catharina Vermeer and Beatrix Vermeer. He is a famous painter because he created several well-known works such as The Reader at the Window or The Lacemaker. But his best-known work is The Girl with the Pearl Earring. Seeing the painting we felt admiration, the young girl in this portrait stares at us with intensity. This look, combined with the striking effect of the light caressing her face and illuminating the pearl, creates a powerful emotional connection.

Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was a famous Dutch painter. He didn't become a famous painter during his lifetime, but today, many people around the world love his paintings and admire his use of colour and his passionate style.Van Gogh had different jobs before becoming a painter (a teacher and an art dealer). He started painting when he was about 27. His paintings are very unique and different from other artists.Today, his paintings are shown in museums all over the world.

I love this painting … Water movement is great. It is not so easy to paint waves, I guess, but nevertheless here, in this painting, I can actually feel the motion of the waves, and the wind blowing the sails. The colors are so beautiful! The mixture of colours is spectacular.

Dante Gabriel Rossetti "Beata Beatrix" by Oleksandr, Ukraine

Dante Gabriel Rossetti started painting "Beata Beatrix" in 1863 after the death of his wife Elizabeth Siddal (1829-62). The painting illustrates the last chapter of the poem La Vita Nuova by Dante Alighieri, the Medieval Florentine writer. The female figure is Alighieri’s beloved muse, Beatrice Portinari and was inspiration for Siddal’s portrait. Through symbolism, Rossetti ties 2 love stories together: one of Beatrice and Dante and the other of Siddal and himself, thus delineating their short tragic life.

Some pieces of art might attract our eyes at first sight and we soon fall in love with it. And some might make us love it more after knowing the behind story. Beata Beatrix is such a painting. It moved me a lot. Rossetti took his wife as the model of Beatrix, who was the incarnation of beatific love and led people into the beatific vision. It demonstrates that his wife played an irreplaceable role in Rossetti's life. The love story behind this painting touched my heart.

Dalí was a key artist in a movement called Surrealism (about exploring the world of dreams & the unconscious mind). He had a very unique imagination, he painted strange objects & put them in unexpected places. His surreal paintings are strange, interesting & unforgettable and often show things that don't make sense in the real world. They made people think about things in a new way

Artwork makes me feel joyous and happy. Humans can do something so beautiful and creative with their hands. It gives me hope that things will change for the better through art because a lot of issues are illustrated so creatively through art. A lot of messages are also shared through art and it just makes me feel like humans are so full of incredible ideas. I find it amazing that humans can think of using art to spread a message to future generations.

Some pieces of art make me feel happy and optimistic.
Some pieces of art make me feel sad.
Some art makes me feel thoughtful.
Some art makes me feel transcendent.
This can be due to the feelings portrayed in the artwork, or the personal history of the artist. Mostly art can evoke positive emotions, such as happiness or joy. Whatever the reason, there is something unique and special about looking at art.

For drawing and use of pastel I like Degas.
For brushwork, landscapes, portraits and contributions to modern art, I admire Cezanne.
For portraits I like Klimt, Matisse and Raphael.
For luminosity and abstraction I like Monet.
For imagination and cityscapes I very much like Klee.
For audacity, drawing and work ethic I do admire Picasso.
For sculpture and overall genius it’s Michelangelo.
