He was born in December 6, 1994. He is a Greek- Nigerian basketball player for Milwaukeee Bucks of the NBA. 

His parents moved to Athens from Nigeria and he grew up in the Athens neighbourhood Sepolia. His parents could not easily find work so Giannis and his older brother helped by selling things in the streets. 

In 2007 he started playing basketball. He began playing basketball for the youth teams of of Filathlitikos in Athhens. In 2013, he entered the NBA draft and he was selected by Bucks. 

His size, speed, strength and country of origin have earned him the nickname Greek Freak. He is considered one of the greatest power forwards and greatest players of all time. 

In 2016-17 he led Bucks in all five major categories. He became the first player in NBA to finish a regular season in the top 20 in all 5 statistics. 

He received the most improved player award in 2017. Furthermore, he was selected as an all-star captain in 2019, 2020, 2023 and 2024.
