Chapter 1
The Shadow of Rome – Zeugma (300 BC)
HME SECONDARY SCHOOL - SERGUL'S TEAM
A long time ago, the city of Zeugma stood on the banks
of the Euphrates River. It was one of the bustling
centers of trade and culture. Marcus, a young scribe,
was tasked with writing important documents for
he Roman governor. One night, a mosaic master
revealed a secret to him:“There is a hidden
chamber beneath the city. Inside lies an
ancient scroll. Whoever finds it can change the future.”

The Scroll of the Future
Marcus decided to investigate this secret.
Under the cover of darkness, he quietly
made his way towards the Euphrates River.
Yet, Marcus was not the only one watching
the city closely. Persian spies moved
silently through the shadows, careful not to
reveal their own pursuit of the scroll.

Betrayal and the Mosaic Code
Marcus, Leon, and Darian quickly surfaced and plunged into Zeugma's narrow streets. They went to Leon’s workshop to decode the scroll. The mosaics revealed the words: "The key that appears at sunrise."
When Leon shone a lantern on the largest mosaic, the stones glowed faintly, revealing a golden key within.
“This is the key to the governor’s secret library!”

At that very moment, hooded Roman soldiers burst through the door. Marcus's eyes widened when he saw their leader—it was Cassius, the Roman governor’s trusted aide!
“Give me the scroll, Marcus. Some secrets must remain hidden.”
It was revealed that Cassius had been manipulating both Rome and Persia. They had to escape.

Showdown at the Governor's Palace
With Leon’s help, they traversed underground tunnels to reach the Roman governor's palace. Using the golden key, they opened the secret door and found themselves in a vast library.
But the governor and Cassius were already waiting inside.
“So, you brought the scroll,” said the governor.
Darian gripped his dagger tightly. Cassius smiled slyly.
“Tonight, everything will be decided.”
As Marcus reached for it, a chilling voice echoed. "You should not have come."
A hooded figure emerged from the shadows, holding an ornate dagger. "The artifact chooses its wielder," he said. The mosaics began to shift, displaying changing scenes on the walls. The air grew heavy, and the parchment in Marcus’s hands trembled with a golden light
CHAPTER 2
HME SECONDARY SCHOOL - BERIL'S TEAM
At that moment, footsteps echoed through the tunnels. Cassius and his guards appeared at the doorway. "You’re too late," Cassius said with a cold smile. "The true owner of the scroll is me."The hooded figure turned to Cassius. "You are not worthy," he whispered and raised his dagger. Suddenly, the room trembled, the mosaics cracked. The parchment in Marcus’s hands grew hotter. Leon searched for an exit while Darian drew his sword.
With a sudden flash of light, everything stopped. Silence filled the chamber. Neither the hooded figure nor Cassius remained. Only the parchment was missing.
Marcus stared at the pedestal in shock. "What happened?" he whispered.
Leon took a deep breath. "I think the answers are no longer ours to find."
But from the shadows, a whisper suggested that it was far from over.
CHAPTER:3
A long time ago, in the 1800s, there was a quiet monastery in Riga, Latvia. The monks there loved to read and take care of old books. One cold winter day, a monk named Brother Mikelis was cleaning a very old book. Suddenly, something fell out from between the pages — it was an old parchment!
This parchment was special. It had Ottoman writing and Roman symbols on it. The monks didn’t know what it meant, so they called a young translator named Aleksis.
Aleksis loved history. His great-grandfather once worked with the Ottoman army and told him many exciting stories. That’s why Aleksis was very curious. When he saw the parchment, his eyes got big.
He quickly made a copy and went to show it to historians in the city. But someone was watching him…

Two men in dark coats were following Aleksis. They were not just normal people — they were secret agents. They also wanted the parchment. But why?
The monks believed the writing on the parchment talked about a hidden treasure or a lost map — something very old and powerful. Maybe something that connected Zeugma, the Ottoman Palace, and now Latvia!
Aleksis looked at the parchment again.
And so, the mystery grew even bigger...

Chapter 4
Espionage and the Lost Parchment (1937)
IES BITÁCORA (SPAIN)
CARLOS' DIARY
I can't explain the strange feeling when I first saw the parchment. It's as if it was waiting for me. No, that's not right-perhaps it's better to say that it was calling me, from the depths of time itself. Archives of Barcelona, poring over dusty volumes and forgotten documents, but nothing has ever felt quite like this. It's a feeling I can't bear.
Carlos had always been a curious student, driven by a passion for history. But his interest in the past was not just academic—it was personal. His family had long whispered about a mysterious secret buried deep within their history, a secret that seemed to connect them to some of the darkest chapters of the 20th century. Little did he know that his quest for knowledge would soon intertwine with these dark legacies.

One rainy afternoon, while digging through the old archives of a dusty library in Barcelona, Carlos stumbled upon an ancient, weathered parchment. He had been sifting through piles of documents, searching for records related to the Spanish Civil War when something caught his eye. Tucked between two large tomes, it was a thick, yellowed piece of paper, nearly torn in half. The parchment had symbols, cryptic phrases, and strange markings, seemingly old enough to date back to the 1930s. His heart raced as he carefully unfolded it, revealing a map with hidden locations, names, and a code that seemed to point to something much more significant than a mere relic of history.

Carlos couldn’t help but feel a strange connection to the document, a sense that it was meant for him to find. But as he studied the parchment more closely, something was missing. There were gaps—sections that had been deliberately torn or faded over time. That’s when he realized: this wasn’t just a historical artifact—it was a key to something much more profound.
The document's value had not gone unnoticed. As Carlos continued his research, he uncovered shocking truths about the parchment. It seemed that both the Nazis and Franco’s regime had coveted it for years. The parchment held details about secret alliances, covert operations, and the fate of many Spanish Republican exiles who had crossed paths with Nazi operatives during and after the Spanish Civil War. The Nazis believed the document could reveal hidden treasures of war, while Franco's regime saw it as a symbol of their power, a tool to suppress any remnants of resistance. Both parties had been searching for the missing sections of the parchment for decades, hoping to use its contents to strengthen their positions.

But the missing pieces were elusive. Carlos’s research indicated that the sections of the parchment were scattered across Europe, hidden in various locations, guarded by clues that only a few knew about. Each fragment was a part of a much larger puzzle, one that could unravel a forgotten chapter of history—or rewrite it entirely.
As Carlos delved deeper, he began to uncover clues that seemed to suggest his own family had been involved in the search for the parchment long before he ever discovered it. His grandfather, a former soldier in the Spanish Civil War, had been part of a secret resistance group that had worked against Franco’s regime. Carlos’s family had kept a long-hidden secret: they were guardians of the missing fragments of the parchment. His grandfather had hidden one of the pieces in a remote location in the Pyrenees before he disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
Carlos soon realized that he was not just following the trail of a historical artifact, but he was also tracing the steps of his own ancestors. This was no longer just an academic pursuit—it was a personal mission to uncover the truth behind the family's involvement with the parchment. The more he learned, the more he understood that his own fate was tied to the history he was uncovering.
Now, with the Nazis and Franco’s regime both intent on recovering the document, Carlos knew that his next move would be dangerous. He had to find the missing pieces before anyone else did, but in doing so, he would have to face not only the shadow of history but also the dark forces that sought to control it.
The parchment was more than a relic—it was the key to a story that had been hidden for generations, and Carlos was the one meant to bring it to light. But with every step he took, the danger grew, and the lines between past and present began to blur.
Would Carlos be able to unlock the full truth, or would the dark forces of history reclaim the secrets forever? Only time would tell.

Chapter 5: Discovery in Gaziantep
(Present Day)

Today, the Gaziantep Culinary Festival was
buzzing with activity, as the city’s rich
culinary culture was being celebrated.
However, amidst the joy and excitement
of the festival, a young historian named
Elif was about to uncover something much
more significant. Elif, known for her passion
for historical research, had been drawn to an
old Ottoman parchment displayed at a booth
on the edge of the festival. At first glance,
this parchment seemed like a typical Ottoman document, but Elif soon realized it was far more than that.
The parchment was worn and faded, but there were strange markings and symbols along its edges. As she examined it more closely, Elif noticed that it wasn’t just written in Arabic script; it also contained traces of an ancient European language. She looked at it in disbelief: this was not just an Ottoman artifact—it was a historical document from Latvia!
Elif’s eyes widened. How could a Latvian document, dating back centuries, be here in Gaziantep? She had unknowingly stumbled upon a piece of a historical mystery that had been unfolding for over 2,000 years, beginning in the ancient city of Zeugma.
Shadows of the Past
Elif’s mind raced with questions. How did this parchment relate to Zeugma? She had read about Zeugma as a child, learning that it had once been an important Roman settlement, but never had she heard of any Latvian connection to it. Yet, now, this ancient parchment seemed to hold the key to a long-forgotten secret.
That night, as she returned to her hotel, she continued to piece together the clues.

The symbols on the parchment were not
just a code; they appeared to mark a
specific time, a hidden location, or
perhaps a series of events that had
been lost to history. It was clear
that this was no ordinary
historical document—it was a map,
a guide to uncovering something
significant buried in the depths of time.
Lost Secrets of Zeugma
The next morning, Elif decided to visit the ancient ruins of Zeugma. She had researched this place many times, but there had always been one mystery that remained unsolved: a room, a hidden chamber, a treasure that had never been found. Could this parchment be the key to unlocking that secret?
At the archaeological site, Elif met with the team of excavators. She showed them the parchment and the strange symbols that seemed to point to something more. One of the archaeologists noticed something crucial: the symbols were not just a map—they were a timeline, marking the location of a lost room underneath Zeugma. It was something no one had ever expected to find.

The Doors of the Hidden Room
With Elif’s guidance, the excavation team carefully searched the site, and after hours of digging, they uncovered what appeared to be a hidden door, sealed off behind an ancient wall. The symbols on the wall matched those on the parchment perfectly, leading them to the exact location.
When they opened the door, the room was dark, but as they ventured inside, they discovered walls adorned with gold and precious stones. However, what truly caught Elif’s attention were the frescoes on the walls.
