ORANGE BLOSSOM FESTİVAL

The main purpose of the Orange Blossom Festival is to introduce the beauty of Adana to Türkiye and the world. The Adana Orange Blossom Festival includes a series of entertaining events held in Adana when the orange trees are in bloom. Initially a modest local event organized by and for the people of Adana, the festival has now turned into a huge event that has even gained international attention.

Adana Grand Clock Tower is located on Ali Münif Street in Seyhan district. Its construction was started in 1881 by Governor Ziya Pasha and completed in 1882 during the reign of Governor Abidin Pasha. The clock tower, which was made of small stone bricks that were very difficult to knit, was built so solidly that it managed to survive even after the Adana earthquake in 1998.

STONE BRIDGE

The bridge located on the Seyhan River connects the Seyhan and Yüreğir districts. The Stone Bridge, dating back to the Roman Imperial Period, is one of the most important symbols of Adana. It has the title of the oldest bridge still in use in the world. After the restoration in 2006, the bridge was closed to vehicle traffic. The bridge is 319 m long and 11.4 m wide. 14 of the 21 round arches can be seen today.

VARDA BRIDGE

The bridge, which is 99 meters high and 172 meters long, is placed on 4 main legs. One of the interesting features of the Varda Bridge is that one of the legs is 1 meter ahead of the others. The bridge, which has been standing for more than 100 years, is described as an engineering marvel.

 This bridge is a bridge built by the Turks and Germans together, which is why it is also known as the German Bridge.

"VARDA" KÖPRÜSÜ HAKKINDA İLGİNÇ BİR HİKAYE

Varda ismi, köprünün inşası sırasında kullanılan ilkel bir yükseklik ölçüm sisteminden gelmektedir. Alman mühendisler köprünün üzerinden taş attığında, Türk işçiler “vardı ha”, “vardı ha” diye bağırırlardı. Bu bağırma ünlemi daha sonra Türk işçiler tarafından köprünün yerel dilde “VARDA” olarak adlandırılmasına yol açmıştır.
