First of all we will explain what a praying mantis is, a praying mantis is an insect that has 2 raptorial claws and it belongs to the Acrididae family which is also the family of grasshoppers, crickets, locusts, and katydids. They are native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia. They feed on other insects like crickets and grasshoppers, sometimes they also feed on small birds, snakes, and small lizards. Mantis's will also cannibalise if they spot another mantis.

The species i will be describing in this book is about the orchid mantis species. An orchid mantis is one of the many types of mantis's that looks just like an orchid flower. The orchid mantis uses this to camouflage, waiting for its prey to come, and when the prey comes it will lash at it with its claws with extreme speed and eat it from the head first and then the rest of the body. The way they reproduce is that first the male has to go behind the female mantis very carefully or else the male will get eaten by the female. And then after the male mantis is on top of the female then the reproduction happens.
