For my two cats:

You guys will always be missed and loved. You inspired me to put a cat in a box because that was always your favorite spot to lounge on. It didn't matter about how many cat beds we bought, you would've always ended up there. 

    I had just gotten off my bus from school. It was an ordinary day in my neighborhood. Nothing in particular was out of place. I walk into my house and pump my fists in the air. I now have the whole day to myself. My parents don't get off work until later so I can now stay home alone. I have no homework or chores to complete.

      I run to open the door of my room to change into my pajamas. As I finish changing, I hear the doorbell and two hard knocks on the door. I rush to answer who it is. When I do, something unexpected is there...

Ring! Knock knock!

A box???

    "A box?" I whisper quietly to myself. I rush back inside my house with the box and quickly close the door. My thought jumps to the box. I wasn't expecting anything to be delivered. I check the return address and come up short. There is no return address. It's just a tan, cardboard box. There's no writing or anything on it. The box shouts in a robotic voice, "HELP ME OUT OF HERE!" I almost drop it. 

    The box is heavy. Probably 10 to 20 pounds heavy. My curiosity nags at me as I inspect the box. I walk over to my kitchen and turn on the lights. I place the box on the kitchen counter as I search for scissors. When I find some in a drawer, I take it back to my box and open it. 

    "Hello!" A cat says as it appears out of the box. I jump back. Its paws are dirty and it has mud on its fur. It has a collar with a pet translator on it. Oh no! If my parents find out I had a cat in here, I'm going to get in trouble! As I try to pick up the cat, it hisses and kicks at me. I tell it, "Stop!" It doesn't. It does sprint out of my kitchen, though.
