One crisp, spring morning Bella and Benny awoke to wet dew on the ground and a bright light in the sky. Their favorite season is spring. Bella bounced up and down as she pointed up to the sky, "The sun is up! It's a big yellow ball." Sammy the squirrel said, "That's a sphere." The sun is a 3D shape.

Bella put on a red pointy hat. "It's shaped like a cone! I love that!" Benny grabbed his juice in a round looking cup. Sammy the squirrel said, "Benny, did you know that your juice cup is a cylinder?"

Sammy built a tower out of blocks, and he says, "Here's a cube-and here's a box!" Bella clapped, “Let’s stack them high! We’ll build a castle that touches the sky!”

Later that day, the three took a walk. They spotted a triangle on the sidewalk made with chalk. “It has three sides—one, two, three!” Benny drew a square on a tree.

The clouds rolled by like shapes inside a game. Bella excitedly said, “That one’s a rectangle!” Benny declared, “That one’s the same!” Sammy shockingly said, “That one’s shaped like a squiggly snake and that one like a frosted cake!” The three friends spent the rest of the afternoon looking up at the clouds finding new creations.

Bella yawned, “The sky’s starting to glow.”
The sun slid down, the moon peeked out.
“Day turns to night,” Sammy gave a shout!

The moon was round—a shining plate. Last week it was a curved smile shape! Benny asks, “The moon can change? That’s really neat!” Bella replies, “Let’s watch the sky from our blanket seat.”
