To my brilliant daughter, Charlie Bear, whose extraordinary perspective has opened our hearts and minds to the wonders of the autistic world. You are our teacher, our guide, and our greatest joy. Thank you for showing us the beauty in embracing uniqueness and for reminding us that love knows no bounds.

Charlie the bear was the smartest cub in Miss Maple’s first-grade forest class. She could count honeycombs faster than anyone, knew fun facts (like the number of acorns a squirrel could fit in its cheeks, 23 in case you were wondering), and aced every lesson. But Charlie had a secret: she didn’t talk. Words were like fireflies, escaping a jar.

Miss Maple understood. Charlie had so much to say, even if she didn’t speak out loud. One day, Miss Maple brought a special tablet for Charlie. “Charlie, this will help you share all the wonderful ideas in your head!”

Charlie tapped a picture of a waving bear. The tablet’s cheerful voice said, "Hello!" The entire class turned around, surprised. “Whoa! Charlie talks like a robot now!” Benny exclaimed. Charlie grinned and tapped another button. “Yes, and I am very smart.”

From that day on, Charlie’s tablet became her voice. She solved math problems faster than anyone, “Ten bees plus five bees equal fifteen bees!” At story time, she guessed the ending before anyone else, “The rabbit will fall into the pond!” (Spoiler: He did. And the class laughed so hard their tails wagged.)

One day, Miss Maple announced a game: Trivia Battle! Benny nervously whispered, “Charlie’s on our team, right?” Charlie tapped her tablet. “Obviously.”
TRIVIA!!

With Charlie leading, they answered questions about salmon runs, napping trees, and how many acorns a squirrel could fit in its mouth. “Twenty-three acorns!” the tablet declared. Charlie’s team cheered as Miss Maple handed them honeycomb trophies.

By the end of the year, everyone knew Charlie was not just smart, she was a genius. With a little tech and a lot of heart, Miss Maple made sure Charlie’s brilliance shined as bright as anyone else's.
I'm a Genius!I'm A

And from that day on, no one doubted that Charlie bear had plenty to say, in her own way!
