They really enjoyed the Math Island activity of the Living Math project. They had to solve the questions and reach the treasure as a team.
They looked at the sections at different points of the island.
They asked the teachers who were reading the map: We will walk 13+7 steps to the left.
How many steps to the left will we walk in total?
20

After finding the answer to the question, they continued on their way. While walking on the road, they saw stones. They started collecting stones. First they collected 12 stones, then 3 stones. Find how many stones they collected.

The weather and walking were very suffocating for them. They saw on the map that they would reach a stream after passing 20 trees. They had counted 12 trees. How many trees were left for 20 trees?
20-12=8 After 8 trees they would be able to wash their hands and faces. I wonder if that water was drinkable?

After 8 trees were certified, they arrived. The water was flowing and very clean. A few students washed their hands and faces and felt a little refreshed. But they were still unsure about the water. Instead of water, the students drank from the water bottles they brought with them and continued their adventure. After clicking on the stream, they came across a sign.
"Welcome to the Number Maze! Choose paths that total 10 to find the correct path." the students examined their paths. Each path had a number at the beginning and end.
The sample path was as follows: Start: 8, End: ?
The students calculated: "10 – 8 = 2"
So the path ending in 2 was the correct path! They took a few wrong turns, but in the end, they all managed to find the correct sums and escape the maze.

They managed to escape the maze.
At the exit of the maze they found a riddle written on a stone: “There are 7 birds on a branch. How many birds will remain if 3 fly away?” “7 - 3 = 4,” one said happily.
Ahead was a playground with colorful pictures on the ground.“There is an operation here too!” said another.
“There are 5 yellow and 4 red flowers in a flower field. How many flowers will bloom in total?” They completed the game by saying “5 + 4 = 9” and continued on their way.

We created a story using mathematical elements. 5 friends were walking in the forest. They saw 6 monkeys on a tree, they jumped -4. Left -2. They flew in the sky - 10 birds, joined -6, now they are flying -16. They flew to the pond -20 bees, 6 flowers flew, left -14. We played a digital game.
The students were very happy.

After watching the bees and flowers flying in the pond, the students continued on their way. A little further from the forest, they saw a large stick stuck in the ground and circles drawn around it. It was a math game field!
The sign in the middle said:
“Find the right number, reach the treasure in the center!”
The following procedures were written in the apartments:

1. 6 + 8 = ?
2. 14 ila 5 = ?
3. 4 + 9 = ?
4. 20 ila 7 = ?
Ama bunlardan sadece biri doğru yoldaydı!
Çocuklar alışverişe katılmaya başlandı:
6 + 8 = 14
14 ila 5 = 9
4 + 9 = 13
20 ila 7 = 13
İki farklı dairenin sonucu aynıydı: 13. Hangisi doğrudur?
Birileri dağınık olarak incelendi ve yerde küçük bir ipucu bulundu:

“Odd numbers may surprise you, trust the even number!”
Then 14 was the correct answer! The children passed through the apartment with 14 written and reached the glowing chest right in the middle.
When they opened the chest, math cards, colored pencils and small medals with the words "LIVING MATHEMATICS EXPLORERS" came out of it. They all hugged each other with joy.

While the students who found the treasure chest were celebrating with joy, suddenly colorful lights appeared in the sky. While looking at the sky, a note went down with a parachute. The note said:
“One last task left! To become the real hero of Math Island, you must solve this question:
17 steps were taken on a journey. Then 9 more steps were taken. But then 6 steps were turned back. How many steps have they advanced?”
