Jan.16th 

       Dear Diary, my name is Charlotte. 

When I get up this morning, my family  

already has breakfast ready. I ate a mouse 

with a side of bat. After I am done with 

breakfast, I go to school. Today at school, we 

learn how to screech. You see, us barn owls 

don't normally hoot, like most owls you will 

hear about. We also learned how we can fly 

silently. 

Jan. 19th 

       Today I hung out with my best friend Tawny. He 

is a tawny owl, that is why his name is Tawny. We had 

homework to do, history. We are doing the difference 

between our ancestors. Tawny's ancestors have darker 

feathers, like Tawny. Also like Tawny, his ancestors 

have bigger eyes then I do. My ancestors on the other 

hand, look exactly like me. White stomach, head, 

inside of my wings. And small little eyes. Our 

ancestors ate this same things though. Mice, and other 

small rodents. 

Jan.27th

        It is my day to get food for the family. I can't 

really find anything good, like a bat or something, 

so I just decide to stick with a mouse. This will last 

a good few days. "Mhhmaybe just one more..." I 

say out loud, grabbing four more mice. 

"Mmmm..Or four!" I say smiling. Now this, this will 

last, like, almost ten days. My parents did always 

say that I was the hunter out of my brother and I.

Jan. 30th

        Tawny and I have more homework to do. Today 

we have to work on science. All we have to do is work 

on our scientific names. Mine is Tyto alba. Tawny's is 

Strix aluco. Well, I better go because Tawny will get 

mad, and I really want to finish this so I can get a whole 

bat to myself at dinner time. 

Feb. 1st

      Sorry about that, Tawny came back, and our 

project took almost the whole night! Yes, I do stay 

up all night. What? Oh yeah, I forgot. I am 

nocturnal. I stay up all night, and sleep in the 

morning. And during the day. Anyway, Tawny is 

going on a road trip. Well, a fly trip. So, I don't 

know when he will get back. He is leaving on 

March 30th. 

Feb. 3rd

        When I get up I have to get breakfast again. I 

remembered that I have school today. Today at school 

we learned to NEVER drink, or eat, rat poisining. 

Becuase, 91 per cent of barn owls were found to 

contain rat poison. We had a WHOLE assembly on it. 

Note to self: NEVER EAT RAT POISINING!!!

Feb. 16th

       Sorry I haven't written in a while, but I had a 

lot going on at school, and I have had alot of 

homework. So, I might as well give you an update 

on my seeing skills. I can see in the dark, and I 

can see really far! Well, I better get back to my 

homework.
