You probably think that Easter is about chocolate, and candy, and the Easter bunny, and toys, and egg hunts, but Easter is about so much more than that. 

Our story starts on a day now called Palm Sunday. On palm Sunday, Jesus comes into Jerusalem, riding a donkey.

The people throw down their coats, and yell “Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest!” Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week. Holy Week is the week that Jesus dies. 

Fast forward to Thursday, the Thursday in Holy Week is called Maundy Thursday. The last supper takes place on Maundy Thursday. 

During the last supper, Jesus gives his followers bread. Saying: “take, eat. This is my body.” And then he gave them wine. Saying: “this is my blood, shed for you do this as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

then, Jesus said to them: “one of you will betray me.” The followers gasped. “The one who will betray me is the one who takes from the same bowl as me.”

that night, Jesus went to the garden to pray. He took three of his followers with him. He went away to pray, and when he got back, His followers were asleep. This happened two more times.

But the third time, when Jesus got back, he heard noises. It was Judas, and some soldiers. They had come to capture Jesus. They successfully did so.
