Cheeky Monkey arrived home from school on a sunny afternoon.

“Mum! I’m  hungry!” he said, dropping his backpack at the door. 

Cheeky Monkey turned his attention to the table where he saw the phone.

 “Mum, can I please watch YouTube while I wait?”

Mum walked over to him and cleaned her hands  before telling him to watch YouTube for a short time but stay away from links he didn't recognize.

 “Okay!” Cheeky Monkey grinned. Mum unlocked the phone and opened the YouTube app

 Cheeky Monkey laughed after watching a video that showed dancing bananas.

“This is so funny!”  he said.

He drank his milk while eating a cracker. Everything was going well—until something  unexpected happened…

 An advertisement suddenly appeared on the screen.

A bright and colorful banner displayed the following message:

  Click this link to receive a large banana box as your prize. 

 Cheeky Monkey’s eyes lit up.

“Wow! Bananas?! My favourite!”

He recalled his  mother's warning yet the advertisement seemed entertaining to him.

Tap! He clicked the link.

BZZZT! The screen went black for a second, then started flashing. “ERROR! WARNING!” it said. “Oh no! What’s happening?!” cried Cheeky Monkey. The phone was frozen. Nothing worked.

 Mum rushed in when she heard him cry.

“Sweetie, what happened?”

 Cheeky Monkey burst into tears after clicking a banana ad which resulted in the phone breaking. 

Mum  looked at the screen and shook her head. “Looks like a tricky link gave the phone a  virus. But it’s okay—we’ll fix it.”

Mum picked up the home phone and called the Online Safety Help Centre.

Mum gave Cheeky Monkey a hug. “I’m not mad, sweetheart. We need to be careful when we are online. If you see something strange, always call me first.” Cheeky Monkey sniffled. “I’m sorry, Mum. I will never click on a tricky link again.” “I know, darling. That’s how we learn.”
