Appearance And Special Features

The green sea turtle is green and has a hard shell. They are born approximately 5 cm. long and can grow to a length of 5ft. They can grow up to be 300kg. They cannot get stung while eating jellyfish. In cold water the green sea turtle can breathe for longer periods of time than in normal water temperatures. Females turtles lay eggs every 2-4 years when they are mature enough. They can lay 100-200 eggs at a time. They can swim up to 35 mph. They are cold-blooded. They are also born in a pit.    Green sea turtles make their homes in tropical and subtropical oceans worldwide. Green sea turtles eat crabs,jellyfish,sea grass,algae and a lot more creatures.

One  special feature is that green sea turtles can blow bubbles out of their nostrils.

Green Sea Turtles feed on crabs, jellyfish, and other creatures as juveniles. As adults, they become herbivores they eat sea grasses and algae. Green Sea Turtles predators are sharks, tiger sharks, crabs, marine mammals, shorebirds. the green sea turtle can live in the Arctic and in the Pacific ocean

                        Conservation   Status

According to the IUCN, green sea turtles are endangered because they are hunted for their shells in Japan and for their eggs. Green sea turtles get cot in fishing nets. Some countries are trying to protect  their nests.

Green sea turtles are related to Hawksbill, Leatherback, Longerhead, and Olive Ridley turtles. Green sea turtles are older than dinosaurs. Green sea turtles have tongues. The oldest green sea turtle is a female turtle named Myrtle she is 90 years old.
