The shoebill habitat: the habitat is fresh water swamps they are located in east and central Africa
Their diet consist of lung fish catfish, tilapia, senegal bicher, frogs, water snakes, young crocodiles snails and mollusks. They will occasionally feed on small birds and rodents but only if the other options are scarce. The Average Shoe bill stork lives to around 35 years old but some Shoebills have lived up to 50 years old in captivity. Usually the shoebill stork will lay one to three eggs per cluster
Some variations/family members are pelicans Herons and Ibises. Some adaptions of the shoe bill stork are the bill it does not allow for mud or debris to get stuck in their mouth when feeling around shallow water another adaptation is their feet which developed so they could catch prey in shallow water the shoebills legs are an adaptation because they need it to navigate and balance in the march water and also the dense vegetation

The legs and feet are two homologous structures the legs bones (femur fibula and leg bones) are all setup in a similar way to human legs. The feet although they are designed for wading in the water they are setup similar to human feet . But they are different because a human has two major leg bones and a shoebill storks foot has a long middle toe

The vestigial structure on a shoebill stork is a nictating membrane which will protect the eye from debris and keep the eye moist. Scientists believe it is vestigial because it is not fully functional

A species close to the shoebill stork is the hamerkop they are closely related because of their behavior style. The factor that makes the species different is the bill of the shoebill because of how large it is. A distantly related animal is the Pelican it is different beak cause of the beak/bill but they are similar because of their long legs their diet and their hunting strategies
