My name is Bryce, I love Rutherford because he howls a lot of the time. It means pet me more!

Hello, my name is Piper. What I love most about Rutherford is his nubby tail. His nubby tail wags so happily when I pet him.
Rutherford’s Big School Adventure

Rutherford is white with brown spots all over his face and body. He has big droopy ears, jowls, and a squished-in black nose that makes him look grumpy. His sad, grumpy face hides how happy he is when children pet him. He sits like a good boy next to a stroller, his leash attached to the school gate while he waits for his family to return.

I love Rutherford

When people come near Rutherford, he gets up and starts panting. When Rutherford gets pets, he thinks, "Ahhh, pets again, I love pets!" He's patient and happy because children pet him. Even though he looks grumpy, everyone knows he's happy.

One morning, when Rutherford was waiting by the gate, he noticed a cat sneaking past. He became so excited that he scratched at his leash. He bit the leash to get loose and finally broke free! He started running after the cat, going through the open gate and in between the school buildings. Teachers and kids yelled, “Rutherford, come back!”

As he's running, Rutherford spots Ms. Lee’s classroom and starts howling at the door. "Ah woo!" He scratches the door with his big paw. When the door opens, he jumps on a boy named Bryce and gives him a big hug. He then runs inside and sees Ms. Lee, jumping on her to hug her, too. Rutherford then runs out of the open classroom door, and Bryce and Ms. Lee yell, "Rutherford, come back!"
