Once upon a time, there was a poor boy
named Oliver. He was a servant to his rich
step-brothers, Ellis and Edmund, and his step-
father. He waited on them hand and foot.








He worked all day and he worked all night.
Soon his step-family was invited to a ball. But
of course, they wouldn't let Oliver go, unless
he finished his doubly long list of chores. A ball
was no place for a servant.







He cried, and cried because his bucket of water
had spilled. Stupid gravity! Always ruining
everything! But then, he heard someone kick a
window in the house. He quickly turned around
to find a man in a lab coat behind him.




Hello, I'm your Fairy godfather.
What? Oh, I'm Oliver.

"I'm here to get you to that ball, as long as
you'll help me out with my physics! If you want
to go to that ball, you'll want to look dapper!"










But how will I do that?
Leave that to me!

Oliver saw a twinkle of hope in the kind man's
eye. He must have been up to something! The
man started to wave his wand around and
shout magic words.Then, all of a sudden...














POOF! The old, shaggy servant became a noble prince! Right before his
very eyes he saw a pumpkin carriage!





Thank you so much! Now I can go to the ball!





But, you can't forget friction! Without it, you would be slipping and sliding. Friction keeps you in place. The forces are unbalanced.

The pumpkin has a largemass and weight, so there's more
friction.

Once Oliver got to the ball, he caught a
glimpse of a beautiful princess. She was over
by the punch bowl, but she was crying. Oliver
was going to find out why.















Her invitation was floating in the punch, and now she
wouldn't be able to meet the queen! But Oliver tried to help
by explaining why it floats.














Your invitation floats because it's density is smaller than the density of the punch, therefore, it floats.
The upward force keeping it afloat is buoyancy. The buoyancy and gravityare balanced, resulting in no motion. If the invitation was sinking, the forces would
be unbalanced.

After Oliver got the invitation out of the punch, they
danced. But then he remembered what the Fairy
godfather told him. "Once the clock strikes twelve, the
spell will wear off. You can't stop centripetal
force."Since it looked like the clock had almost reached
twelve, he said goodbye and ran out the door.
