A cozy bookshop with snow outside, lights glowing in the windows, and a cat in the doorway.

In a busy town full of noise and buses, there lived a young woman named Cora. Cora didn’t have a job, and sometimes she felt like she didn’t fit anywhere. She loved books, but she didn’t know what to do next.
One day, Cora got a letter from her sister, Ellie, who lived far away in a magical old city called Edinburgh.
"Come help me for the holidays!" Ellie wrote. "I found a job for you in a bookshop!"
Cora wasn’t sure. But she packed her bags and said, “Why not?”
When Cora arrived, she found the bookshop. It was a tiny, crooked, magical place full of books stacked to the ceiling.
The shopkeeper, Mr. McLeod, was grumpy.
"This shop needs saving before Christmas!" he warned.
Cora gulped. Could she do it?
Cora didn’t know how to run a bookshop. At first, she made mistakes. Books fell. Dust flew.
But slowly, with the help of some kind neighbors—and a very fluffy cat named Buttons—she began to believe in herself.
The city sparkled with fairy lights and the smell of hot cocoa.
Cora met people who loved the bookshop: a lonely boy who found adventure in books, a grandma looking for a lost story, and even a famous author who needed inspiration.
Ellie and Cora had never been very close.
“Why don’t you ever listen to me?” Cora said.
“Why don’t you try harder?” Ellie asked.
They both had to learn that family means listening, forgiving, and working together—even when it’s hard.
Cora had an idea!
“Let’s have a Christmas party in the bookshop! We’ll decorate, read stories, and sell books to help Mr. McLeod!”
With help from everyone—even Ellie—they made it happen.
The Christmas Bookshop glowed with joy and laughter. People filled the shop, buying books and making memories.
Mr. McLeod smiled (for the first time ever!)
Cora had saved the shop—and found her place in the world.
