It was a warm and bright day in central Africa
for Lion, Cheetah, and Giraffe. They gathered
by a giant boulder that provided a good amount
of shade for them to sit in. They sat among a
field of tall grass, and the wind blew softly
against the blades. They had been friends since
they were young, and most of their days were
spent in each other’s company.

Lion possessed a luxurious, thick mane and was
calm in temperament. Cheetah had two young
cubs of her own and had great dexterity. Giraffe
was tall and lanky, and was very curious. Giraffe
asked, “What is it that you both do when we are
not with each other?”

Cheetah replied, “I spend time building my speed and
catching prey. Other days I sit at the water hole to cool
off with other animals after a strenuous activity.” Giraffe
said “I gather leaves from high branches for the younger
ones of my family. Sometimes I explore the land.” It was
now Lion’s turn to reply, but he felt his activities were
not appropriate.

“Well,” he began, “My time is spent catching
prey, since I am one of the strongest animals
around. Some days I catch 15 animals, even
20. I am the best hunter in central Africa.”
Giraffe was very impressed by what Lion had
said, since no other lion could accomplish such
a feat of strength.

That's amazing, Lion!

However, Cheetah exclaimed “Lies! That is not possible.
Do not believe him, Giraffe. No lone lion can catch that
many animals before sunset. Not even I, the fastest
land animal!” Lion retorted, “You may be faster, but I am
stronger, and my hunting techniques are much more
finessed.” Cheetah still did not believe him, but she did
not persist. Once it started getting dark, they all left
back to where they reside at night.

That's not true!
The next day, Cheetah and Giraffe had gathered
together, as they do most days, except Lion was
not there. They both knew that Lion had affairs
to take care of, but they did not know what.
Nonetheless, they did not worry.

At one point, Giraffe heard several animals making loud
noises. “I will be back shortly,” said Giraffe. “I must see
why that noise was made.”

I'll be back soon.

Giraffe followed the sound and was led to a distant
animal pack, hidden behind a beautiful scene of fruit
trees and bushes, full of many different animals.
However, he suddenly realized that this was no ordinary
pack, but it was the pack of Leopard, the most evil and
corrupt animal in Africa.
