What is Vega?

Vega is a main sequence star 

It is in the middle of its life cycle. In 500 million years, it will become a red giant. 

On the H-R diagram, it is around 10,000 surface temperature and absolute magnitude 0.

How Vega was Born

The Vega Star was born like how a frisbee spins when you throw it.

First a giant cloud called a nebula fell apart in a bigger cloud, then gravity pulled things like gas and dust together, and then it became really hot and formed a star.

Vega is in it´s main sequence or the middle of its life cycle, and so is the Sun. 

Vega is the 5th brighest star in our sky. How bright it looks to us is called apparent magnitude. Luminosity is how bright a star is, since Vega has a high luminosity, we can see it from Earth.

Fun Fact: It would take 25 years to travel from Vega to the Sun. This means they are 7.68 parsecs away from

each other. A parsec is a way to measure 

distance in space.

In 500 million years, Vega will turn into a red giant. A red giant is a bright, huge star but it has a cooler temperature.

After it becomes a red giant, the star will get rid of its outer layers and become what is called a planetary nebula. 

After it turns into a 

planetary nebula, it will 

turn into a white dwarf.
