Dedication
Dedicated to my firstborn, Michael Madden.
I pray that life treats you well and that you experience the simple joy that comes with being present in every moment of life—from the beautiful to the painful. I pray that you always let your spirit soar and keep your light bright. May the world show you love, and may you show it love in return. And never forget that you are loved immensely.
Love, Mom and Dad

Once upon a time, there lived a little boy named Michael the Magnificent. And do you know what made Michael so magnificent?
Today was the day he graduated from preschool – and that made him a true superhero!
"But why does graduating preschool make me a superhero?" Michael wondered, adjusting his superhero cape.

Well, Michael the Magnificent, graduating preschool takes the kind of courage and strength that only superheroes possess.
You see, while preschool was filled with wonderful adventures – making new friends, playing with amazing teachers, running around outside, discovering new toys, and learning to spell your very own name – it wasn't always easy.

You had to do some very hard things to get to all those fun moments. You had to use your superpowers!

Superpower #1: The Power of Showing Up
Every single day, Michael the Magnificent had to use his first superpower: showing up. Even on mornings when his bed felt extra cozy and his pillow whispered, "Stay here, Michael," he chose to get up and go to school anyway.

"Showing up is half the battle of life," his parents would remind him. And they were right! Because Michael chose to show up – even when he didn't feel like it – he got to experience all those magical moments with friends and games.
Superheroes know that the best adventures only happen when you're brave enough to show up.

Superpower #2: The Courage to Let Go
Michael's second superpower was courage – especially the courage to say goodbye to Mommy and Daddy each day. Oh, how hard that was! Sometimes tears would roll down his cheeks as he said, "I don't want you to leave, Mommy and Daddy!"

But do you know what gave Michael the Magnificent his strength? The hearts and kisses Mommy put in his hand each morning. They reminded him that even when they weren't together, Mommy and Daddy were always in his heart, and he was always in theirs. That love gave him the courage to try new things and make new friends.
Superpower #3: The Art of Patience
The third superpower Michael learned was patience – and wow, was that a tough one! Patience meant waiting his turn, sitting quietly during circle time, following the classroom rules, and keeping that green card all day long.
