Dedicated to my family, who inspired me.

Once, there lived a boy named Adam. He had wavy orange hair, sparkling blue eyes, and a sad, but hopeful face. This sad boy was only 10 years old, but the orphanage director, Ms. Bleacher, didn’t think so.
She thought kids should be like adults and do everything she asks. No excuse. “Those nasty little things!”, she often yelled. She ran an orphanage called Wakely Hall, and it took more than effort to endure the pure torture it was made of. The orphanage was a small, run-down house, and it had 41 people crammed in when the torn-down house should only have slept 15 people at the absolute most.

Those nasty little things!
I hate this place!
I am really uncomfortable
here!
The evil orphanage director, Ms. Bleacher spent all the money she received from the government for herself. She bought herself a fur coat, sparkling high heels, a luxurious Rolls-Royce, a mansion, butlers, and even a tiara! That was, of course, pure torture for the children. The children were in shabby, torn clothes, always too big or too small and she was living the rich life. Ms. Bleacher kept everything a secret, so nobody could arrest her. But, Adam and the rest of the orphanage had taken their toll, and they had gradually grown smarter and smarter. So, one evening, they tried to escape.

Adam tried to plot a daring escape, and his ultimate plan was to find his family. Ms. Bleacher hired a lot of security guards to defend the spooky haunted looking place. She may have exaggerated a bit, because only 1 guard would be enough to knock out a few people. But, after a few unsuccessful escapes, and a few cuts and bruises, Adam finally made a successful escape plan. At midnight, when Ms. Bleacher was asleep, the kids made their big escape. They gave a pill made from a special potion out of the items from Ms. Bleacher’s punishment cupboard to the guards. Then, they stole the keys from the guards pocket.

I need to run! I need to find my family.
But, as soon as Adam stepped on the ground outside of the orphanage, the guards got their senses back and run quickly to grab Adam. He ran as fast as he could, but he grew tired. The guards were still going strong, so Adam ran into a narrow alleyway to hide. He saw a stairway and he took h is chances and ran up the stairs. The guards followed him. When he reached the top, he noticed a garbage chute that reached the ground. It was just big enough for a small boy. He slid down, and noticed that his bum was getting hotter. Luckily, the ride was short. He thought “Oh no, if I hit the ground, I’m going to fall.” But, there was a row of pillows that were illegally dumped. The cushions saved his fall. He was safe. When he looked up the stairwell, the guards tried to catch him. They squeezed the skinniest guard in the chuge, but luckily, the slide was still too small. Afterwards, Adam saw a lot of buildings, including the Big Ben. He realized he was in London.
