... is a brother or a sister.

All I want forChristmas....

Ever since Michael could remember he
wanted a brother or a sister.
He would ask his mother and father
every Christmas,
"Could I ask Santa for a brother or a
sister?"

When Christmas morning would come,
Michael knew that Santa had brought him
something he had secretly wished for.
What he found under the tree had not been
in the letter he had mailed to the North Pole.
His wish list was short and only had two
words on it.....
Brother
Sister

Instead Michael would get all the toys he
could ever want or play with. One year he
rushed downstairs on Christmas morning to
find a brand new shiny bike.
He would forget for a while what he had
wished for in the first place. He was always
happy with what Santa gave him. He would
ride his new bike as soon as the snow
melted.

Michael learned to keep himself busy and
found things to do using his big
imagination. He would talk to an imaginary
friend and pretend it was a brother one day
and then switch to talking to a sister the
next. He was not sure which one he
wanted more. He liked sports and thought
a brother would be nice to kick the ball
back to him.

Michael's mother and father knew that their
son wanted a brother or a sister very badly.
They would take turns spending time with
Michael and playing games with him so that
he was never alone. They spoiled their son
to make up for the fact that they could not
have any more children and they knew that
Michaels' wish, as well as their own, would
never come true.

Michael's father played with him when he
could, but he did not seem to have a lot of
time to spare.
His father was a Doctor and was not home
very much.
Michael did not mind though, because he
knew his father was helping people get better.
His mother was home with him a lot. He
loved his mother, but she wasn't very good at
sports.

Michael would spend time with his mom.
He enjoyed baking cookies with her. They
would have tea parties. Michael would
imagine that he was having tea with a
sister, when his mother wasn't around. He
could spend hours imagining what having a
sister would be like.
