Thessaloniki is famous for its delicious food — both savory dishes and sweet treats! Who can resist a trigono Panoramatos (a creamy triangle pastry) or a warm bougatsa with custard? A favourite snack is the tasty koulouri of Thessaloniki (a crunchy sesame bread ring), and for dinner, many people enjoy a gyros sandwich.

Fabrizia
Fabrizia, originally known as "Li Prunari" or "Cropanei," was founded between 1590 and 1591 in the heart of the Calabrian Serre mountains. The town emerged from the migration of people from Castelvetere (today's Caulonia) and Roccella, during a period of demographic upheaval caused by socioeconomic difficulties including the Great famine of 1590 and frequent Saracen attacks.
Prince Fabrizio Carafa of Roccella, 3rd Marquis and 1st Prince of Roccella, chose this pristine location as his summer residence, building a castle and places of worship, and giving his name to the new settlement.

"La Cavalera": Fabrizio Carafa's ancient vacation palace

Saint Anthony of Padua is the patron Saint of Fabrizia, who is celebrated in the Mother church, on 13th June every year. For the occasion there is a big celebration, both religious and folkloric. It begins on 31st May evening, with the show of the statue, then every mornings for thirteen days the “tredicina” is celebrated, an holy ritual at half past five in the morning. The tradition is that the blessed St Anthony’s bread is distributed and eaten by families.
The "Passo dell’Abate" is a naturalistic zone in a green landscape. You can find a picnic area where many people meet to eat together.

Local food from Fabrizia has a lot of dishes: typical salumi "soppressata" and nduja, porcini mushrooms, and the cuzzupi sweets.
