Embryll the beaver ran across the forest
clearing and to his father's cave.
"Daddy! I'm home!" he shouted into the cozy
cave. He threw the tools that he had been
holding onto the table and ran into the living
area.
"Yes, I can hear that," his father said from the
couch he was sitting on. Over the years, Mr.
Beaver had grown old and now, instead of
fixing the dam as he had done when he was
young, he utilized his son instead.

"How is the dam coming?" he asked his son.
"Where is mommy?" Embryll quickly changed the
conversation with a slight tone of discomfort in his
voice.
"Getting reserves for the winter," the old beaver
answered, preoccupied by his thoughts about the
dinner to come.
"Okay!" Embryll was glad his father was forgetful,
unlike his mother. He ran to the hole in the wall that
had been determined as his room-to-be.

Embryll heard his mother walk into the beaver
dam. He raced out of his room to greet her and
ask what was for dinner.
"Fried fish," she answered stoutly.
"Why? We always have fish!" he whined. It was his
favorite food, but he really was acting on a simple
whim. "And it's a Friday, too!"
"I thought you loved fried fish!" she exclaimed.
"You thought," he muttered under his breath.

"What was that?" She asked, raising one of her eyebrows.
"Nothing," he answered fervently. "I'm going outside, so
don't wait up!" He walked out of the door nonchalantly.
"More food for us!" his father chuckled in the background.
Embryll walked along the path that had been forged by
the many animals that had walked it before him. He ran to
the clearing, the one with the lamp. He had never
understood how the lamp worked, since most people
didn't even notice it was there.

Embryll sat down by the base of the lamp post. He
raised his head and stared up at it. After a while, he
heard a whisper.
"What's that?" he thought. "It sounded like a girl".
Embryll got up and scanned his surroundings. He
walked towards the voice.
"He saw you!" a boy exclaimed. Embryll located
them. They were behind a tree. It was a boy and a
girl. He walked closer, only to have the boy push a
nearby tree and have it fall down, right on poor
Embryll.

"Hey!" Embryll screamed at them.
The girl's eyes became as round as saucers. She
gasped along with the boy. "He talks!?" they exclaimed
at the same time.
"Yeah, yeah. Now will you help me out from under this
thing?" Embryll asked.
"Whoa. First we find this place, and then a talking
beaver?" The girl asked. "This day just gets better and
better!"
"GET ME OUT!" In his anger, Embryll threw off the
branch. He now approached the children.

"So, who are you?" he asked the children, now in a
perfect state of calm.
"Well, I'm Camilla," the smaller girl said, "and that's
Sebastian." She finished by looking at the beaver.
"Who are you?"
"Are you a Daughter of Eve?" Embryll threw her off
with his question.
"A Daughter of Eve? Of course not! I'm a Daughter of
Elizabeth, who is a Daughter of Lucy!" She laughed at
the small beaver.

"What species is that?" the beaver wondered. He
had an idea. Had not the first daughter of Eve
called her self a- wait, what was it? Ah, yes, a
human.
"Are you a human?" he asked, the unfamiliar word
rolling off his tongue.
"Yes! I am!" she said brightly.
Meanwhile, the brother had taken out a quizzical
contraption, muttering that there was no "Wi-Fi".

"Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi," he sang. "Where are you, Wi-Fi?" Just
then he noticed the beaver and Camilla staring at him.
"Well, what?" he asked. Beginning to climb the tree in
his quest for Wi-Fi, the beaver turned towards Camilla.
"What's Wi-Fi?" he asked, turning his head and looking
at Camilla, a curious look in his eyes.
"It's the best thing ever," Sebastian negligently
stated from the top of the tree.

"I would watch out if I were you... There are ravens up
there," the beaver nervously said. "Could you please
come back down?"
"No way! This is awesome! And what are ravens,
anyway?" Sebastian said. He stayed there, moving his
device in hopes of catching the so called Wi-Fi.
Then they heard it. A low screech, getting louder by the
second.
"Raptor!" Embryll screeched, "get down!" He hid under
a fallen tree, soon to be followed by an aghast Camilla.
