Introduction:
Lily grew up in a small, charming pueblo in Mexico. Surrounded by vibrant colors from different beautiful flowers, delicate cut paper decorations called "Papel picado", and beautiful music playing in the "plaza".
Infancy (0-2 years old) Trust vs. Mistrust
Every time Lily cried, her mom would hug her and sing softly to calm her down. She would feel warm and safe in her mom's arms. Soon she learned that her safe place, full of love, was in her mom's loving arms.
Early Childhood (2-4 years old) Autonomy vs. Shame and Doubt
As Lily got older, she wanted to start doing things on her own. Like playing her abuelo's guitar. She felt more motivated to continue using the guitar because even though she didn't know how, her family would smile and tell her "Otra vez, que bonito tocas!". This motivated her to keep trying because she could see it made her family happy.
Preschool (4-5 years old) Initiative vs. Guilt
Lily enjoyed playing music and singing in front of her cousins. Together, they would pretend to be a famous band. The support and encouragement from her family motivated her to keep learning.
School Age (5-12 years old) Industry vs. Inferiority
When Lily started school, there were a lot of challenges she had to overcome. One was learning how to manage her voice when singing certain notes. At times, she felt frustrated and wanted to give up. Thankfully, the support of her music teacher helped her build confidence and improve her skills. Lily sang in the school talent show and felt proud of her progress.
Adolescence (13-19 years old) Identity vs. Role Confusion
In adolescence, Lily felt pressure from her family to pursue a career rather than her dream of becoming a famous singer. She spoke to her mom about how she was feeling. Her mom encouraged her to pursue what makes her happy.
